Victoria Beckham’s critics are having a field day with the fashion designer’s latest Instagram controversy. The former Spice Girls singer has been slammed for supposedly being inappropriate with her topless daughter in a photo she posted for her fans on her social media account.
Victoria Beckham and David Beckham’s family life is a huge part of the couple’s Beckham brand. Their carefully curated social media posts of their personal lives and children, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper is what keeps fans interested while also putting a stop to any Victoria Beckham, David Beckham divorce drama from even starting.
Yet, Victoria Beckham has managed to spark controversy by posting a photo of her kissing her daughter on the lips for Harper Beckham’s birthday. She captioned the photo with, “Happy Birthday baby girl. We all love you so much X kisses from mummy X.”
Many of her critics are deeming this highly inappropriate, as they think the only person she should be kissing on the lips is her husband David Beckham. The former international soccer star, meanwhile, posted a similar photo on his Instagram page but one of him kissing his daughter on the cheek instead. There’s no doubt that if a photo of David Beckham kissing his daughter would surface, it would perhaps just be as scandalous as the one that his wife shared with the world.
Is it really wrong for a mother to share a photo of her kissing her own daughter in the privacy of their own home? Apparently so, as many of Victoria Beckham’s Instagram followers have commented on the pic with, “It’s nice but you’re not supposed to kiss you’re children on the lips. I’m not trying to be rude but it’s true.” Another critic wrote, “Not a fan of kissing my kids on the lips. That’s just me.”
So far, neither Victoria Beckham nor David Beckham have made any comments about the post, nor has the celebrity mother defended her actions to the media. Knowing how much the Victoria Beckham brand and image is so important to her, there’s a good chance that she’ll ignore this completely, hoping that the controversy will go away on it’s own. Defending the kiss might just add more fuel to the fire.
