Nick and Vanessa Lachey are competing against each other on Season 25 of Dancing With the Stars. It turns out the competition between them is stiff. Both did surprisingly well on the first night of the series. The former 98 Degrees singer told Life & Style Magazine that he’s not letting his wife win the Mirrorball Trophy. Nick Lachey revealed what it’s like to compete against his wife on the dance competition series.
Nick Lachey is no stranger to reality TV. He’s also no stranger to showing off his marriages on television. He’s doing it again with his wife Vanessa Lachey. The 43-year-old singer met up with Life & Style at Planet Hollywood in New York City. Nick Lachey admits there’s a “competitive” streak between him and Vanessa. He clearly wants to win, but he admits that she has the better dance moves.
Nick and Vanessa Lachey aren’t so special. They aren’t the only married couple to compete against each other on the show. Spy Kids star Alexa PenaVega competed against her husband Big Time Rush star Chris PenaVega on Season 21 of the series in 2015. Alexa ended up in 7th place while her husband came in at 8th place in the competition.
There’s another married couple on Season 25 of Dancing With the Stars. Peta Murgatroyd and her husband Maksim Chmerkovskiy paired up with the stars to compete against each other. Peta and Nick formed “Team Mom and Pops,” while Vanessa and Maks formed “Team Babies and Ballrooms.” But, there is no dancing when they go home. All the dancing happens in rehearsal and on the ballroom floor.
TooFab found out that neither Nick and Vanessa Lachey and Maskim and Peta dance with their spouse when they return home from rehearsal. Nick said the couples leave their dancing on the ballroom floor. It would be hard for Nick and Vanessa to rehearse since they’re doing different dance routines and different styles of dancing. Plus, they know they would get into argument if they started dancing.
They want to have a healthy competition between them. Maks also admitted that he does not dance with his wife at home. He also said that things have gotten stale in their marriage. “There’s no dating, there’s no lunching, there’s no dinner,” he told TooFab. Maks and Peta just go home and take care of their kids. Peta is hopeful that all four of them will go on a double date “in the future.”
