General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal GH had some spectacular stories this year, but also some stories that were lacking. Here are some of the best and worst storylines from General Hospital for 2017. What storyline was your favorite and which one did you absolutely despise?
BEST
Steve Burton’s return to the ABC soap opera he called “home” for years, was the highlight of the year. The revelation that he was indeed the real Jason Morgan was what many fans were thrilled to hear. Along with his return we got to see GH fan favorites like Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) back in action. Seeing Jason back with his best friends, Sonny (Maurice Benard) and Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) – this has got to be the number one storyline for GH, no?
BEST
Carly and Sonny Corinthos have had a roller coaster ride, when it came to their relationship but by midnight New Year’s Eve, these two are able to ring in the new year together. Who isn’t happy to see CarSon happy and in love? No one gets each other, more than these two!
WORST & BEST
Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) was the staple that held the Q family together for decades. She appeared to be so mean but it was simply because she is such a passionate person. It was so horrible to see her leave Port Charles, but who didn’t enjoy that epic ending, when she walked into the cafe and her love, Luke Spencer (Anthony Geary) surprised her to whisk her away. It was a good way to say goodbye to a legendary character!
WORST
Ava Jerome (Maura West) was caught, everyone knew that she was responsible for Morgan Corinthos death. Viewers were anticipating that she would finally face the consequences of being responsible for his death – but instead, we all watched as she set her warehouse on fire and get badly burned. Somehow, she not only survives but also finds sympathy and love during her road to recovery. There was no justice for Morgan, and for most GH fans, that doesn’t sit well with them!
BEST
Laura Webber (Genie Francis) has had horrible luck when it comes to relationships, but when she got involved with Dr. Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) it was so loving and calm. He cared for her, and helped with Spencer (Nicolas Bechtel) as he coped with the loss of his father, Nikolas Cassadine (then-Nick Stabile, Tyler Christopher). Kevin and Laura getting married was a treat for most long time fans of both characters.
BEST & WORST
Nelle Hayes/Benson (Chloe Lanier) revealing she is Carly’s adopted sister was an EPIC reveal! Nelle may not be blood to Carly, but she is proving to be more and more like her every day. First, she drugs Sonny, lies, saying they had sex, almost destroying Carly and Sonny’s marriage. Now Nelle is the worst thing that has happened, claiming she is pregnant with Michael Corinthos’ (Chad Duell) baby. How is Carly going to deal with Nelle, as she is clearly a reflection of a younger version of herself?
WORST
Olivia Jerome’s (Tonja Walker) resurrection dragged on for far too long. She came back and destroyed beloved couple Julian Jerome and Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) leading to his attempt to kill her. Alexis became an alcoholic and Olivia nearly killed Sam Morgan (Kelly Monaco) leaving her to die while she was in labor. The story AND Olivia just vanished, as quickly as she arrived.
WORST
Ask Man Landers was maybe the worst story of the year for General Hospital. Of course, it brought Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) to the foreground while his wife, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) was off in Oregon – but the story was horrible! It was entertaining to watch as Spinelli exposed him, thinking Nathan was cheating on Maxie with GH nurse Amy Driscoll (Risa Dorken), however, the revelation was a huge let down for fans.
BEST & WORST
Dr. Andre Maddox (Anthony Montgomery) was a sweet and caring psychiatrist that fans adored; especially when he was spending time with Anna Devane (Finola Hughes). He made her smile and laugh like we haven’t seen since she was madly in love with Duke. Remember Andre taking Anna to the studio and them dancing? It was a great night for her and for GH fans!
Too bad, Andre ended up being a bad, bad man and his reputation destroyed. He now is the man who took Jason’s memories and wiped out Drew’s (Billy Miller). In viewer’s minds, there is no way Andre can redeem himself, not even after we heard the story about his wife who has dementia.
BEST
Drew Cain learns that Oscar Nero (Garren Stitt) is his son with Dr. Kim Nero (Tamara Braun). GH fans are conflicted about Drew and Sam but it seems there is a lot of reasons for Drew to stick around Port Charles. Drew has a good heart and it is clear he has a connection with Oscar – can he build a relationship after missing out on 15 years of his son’s life? Drew is committed to Sam Morgan right now, but will that change as he digs to find his lost memories?
