Normani Kordei Injured: Will She Perform In The 'Dancing With The Stars' Finale?

Will a twisted ankle prevent Normani Kordei from performing on tonight’s Dancing With the Stars finale? It appears that the Fifth Harmony singer had a little stumble during the semi-finals last week. Normani Kordei and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy are heading to the Season 24 finale. Normani said an in exclusive interview with E! Online that they had one their “most challenging” dances yet. The judges saw her stumbled and gasped. Normani is concerned that this could prevent her from getting the mirrorball trophy.

For their redemption, the duo did the quickstep during the first dance of the competition. But, Val says their quickstep wasn’t so quick now they watched it back. Val and Normani are placed second behind Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater on the leaderboard. Their performances in the finals are more important. And that puts more pressure on Normani since she injured her ankle.

She explained to the outlet that her body weight applied pressure to her ankle. Val said it couldn’t come “at a worse time” for them, especially with the finales wrapping up this week. He especially feels bad about Normani’s ankle. This week places an extreme amount of pressure on them since their fans are hoping they’re the ones to win. Everyone has been stating that Normani and Val are in it to win. Normani is hoping that she doesn’t have to back out this week.

But, the 5H singer is tough. She has battled jet lag and a world tour to compete on DWTS. She insists that she’s doing good despite the fact she’s hurt her ankle. Meanwhile, an inside source told ETOnline that while she’s obviously “in pain” she’s “fighting through it.” Maybe a little pain won’t stop Normani. She has already been through so much throughout the season.

Normani could be on her to making history as the second African-American woman to take home the prize in the U.S. version. The only other one to do so was Amber Riley, who was paired with Derek Hough in Season 17.

The two-night Dancing With the Stars finale kicks off on Monday at 8 p.m. ET on ABC, with a second show airing Tuesday from 8:30 – 11: 30 p.m. ET. Normani Kordei, Rashad Jennings, and David Ross are this season’s finalists. Fans already went through a few shocking eliminations this past season on the dance competition show.
