The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that some major casting changes may be in the works as a consequence of moves at General Hospital. The news of Steve Burton’s return to General Hospital could spark big shifts at other soaps, too. You might recall that Burton played Jason Morgan on GH before he came to Y&R as Dylan McAvoy.
Billy Miller left the role of Y&R’s Billy Abbott and took Burton’s place at GH. This soapy edition of musical chairs continued when Jason Thompson left as GH’s Dr. Patrick Drake. He became Y&R’s latest Billy recast. Now we could be headed for another season of change in the soap world. Burton could set some serious swaps in motion.
If Burton turns out to be the real Jason Morgan, where does that leave Miller? He could easily head back to The Young and the Restless. Although Thompson was a successful recast, there are still plenty of fans who’d rather have Miller in the role. Y&R might be willing to shove Thompson out if they could get Miller to return.
There’s also been some buzz about Michael Muhney potentially returning to the role of Adam Newman. That would be a controversial decision since Muhney has been linked to a scandal, but it’s a possibility to consider. Could we see both Miller and Muhney back on the CBS soap?
Many Young and the Restless watchers praised their work together following Delia’s (Sophie Pollono) death. Muhney and Miller might have a chance to share scenes again if Y&R makes it happen. If not, the show could cast a brand-new Adam and still bring Miller back on board. One out of two isn’t bad!
Of course, there could be issues with Miller’s return as well. Fans of Thompson’s version wouldn’t be happy. Miller’s arrival would certainly shape Billy’s storylines and pairings moving forward. Billy’s life could change drastically, which could be good or bad depending on how you look at it.
Some viewers are undoubtedly getting tired of the Billy merry-go-round. If they do make a change, let’s hope they can get Miller to sign a lengthy contract. It’d be nice to stick with one Billy for a while. If Thompson exits, he can always head back to GH.
