The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that the idea of Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Juliet (Laur Allen) becoming a real couple is advancing. Soapy secrets, especially ones that involve breaking of marriage vows always seem to be found out. Step 2 in the devolution of Lane just happened.
So Hilary (Mishael Morgan) overheard Juliet and Cane talking about the night they spent together in Japan. That was Step 1 in Lane’s seemingly inevitable breakup. Cane was saying that he regretted what happened as Hilary was just about to enter Brash and Sassy’s main office. Jane wasn’t aware that she was standing there, which is why they kept talking.
Juliet was later questioned directly by Hilary about what happened. Regardless of the fronts she and Cane will offer, Hilary now holds the upperhand. That’s a major problem for Cane because of the bad blood that exists between him, his wife and Hilary. Plus he knows that his actions caused the problem and not sharing that information with Lily (Christel Khalil) will certainly make matters worse when the truth comes out.
It seemed odd that Cane would willingly have a romantic counter with Juliet, even considering that he was under the influence. Viewers didn’t know Allen’s character at the time. So her motives weren’t certain and still aren’t. However, it could be that Juliet merely found Cane attractive and acted upon her emotions. She too drank sake that night.
The issue in question isn’t whether Juliet is good-looking. She is. But what caused Cane to loose control and cheat on his wife for the first time? Fans could speculate that he’s been subconsciously unsatisfied for whatever reason. Sexists would say that he’s a man, while simultaneously remain silent about Juliet’s gender and identical actions.
Hilary will absolutely use this explosive personal information for all it’s worth. She’ll seek to maximize the greatest amount of pain and embarrassment that she can against Lily, in particular.
Tenured fans haven’t forgotten that when Ann Curtis (Hilary’s actual name) first arrived in Genoa City she attempted to drug Cane and take compromising photographs of him. That was during the time when Ann blamed Neil (Kristoff St. John) for her mother’s death, which was caused by alcohol poisoning. So her capacity to attack, combined with the existing interpersonal war makes an untenable situation.
Lily will naturally feel hurt as soon as everything is revealed. The compounding effect of Hilary’s involvement will mix rage and retribution into the mix. Cane is likely to be alienated from his wife and will seek refuge in Juliet’s arms. Yes, Jane is at least two steps along the path to being formed.
