The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Sharon (Sharon Case) is about to lose her husband – at least in some way. The show is keeping a tight lid on Dylan’s (Steve Burton) fate, but there are some obvious options. It won’t be too hard for Y&R to explain how Dylan’s mission goes south.
The danger Dylan faces could spark a PTSD episode and send him somewhere for treatment. Then again, maybe another obstacle will keep Dylan from returning home. He might go missing or even get killed as the peril revs up. It’s clear that this assignment is incredibly risky.
Paul (Doug Davidson) will get an earful from Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) when Dylan lands in harm’s way. Of course, there’s plenty of blame to go around. Dylan chose to put his life on the line for this mission, but that’s only because he’s been through so much.
Sharon put all of this in motion when she lied to Dylan about her miscarriage. She made it all even worse when she let Dylan believe Christian was his son. You could argue that Nikki exacerbated the problem by making Dylan feel like she was Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) cheerleader.
Even Nick himself contributed to Dylan’s downfall. He was angry with Sharon for her deception, but Dylan had done nothing wrong. There was no reason for Dylan to get such harsh treatment. It’s understandable that Nick wants to be Christian’s sole father. However, there should’ve been a little wiggle room for Uncle Dylan.
It seems like Nick wants to pretend that Dylan never had a connection with this baby. Perhaps it’s just easier for Nick to deal with it that way. The Young and the Restless fans know that Nick was feeling slightly charitable at Christmas. He offered a quick visit, but took Christian right back out of Dylan’s life.
Nick warned that it was a one-shot deal and the rules wouldn’t be changing. It wouldn’t have hurt to throw Dylan a bone and let him babysit Christian occasionally. Nevertheless, Nick made his choice and it put Dylan in a dark place.
Once Dylan’s fate is set in stone, will it help Nick soften toward Sharon? Will he be sorry for shutting Dylan out? It’s possible that this will set up a “Shick” reunion down the road.
