The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Michael Muhney Teases Y&R Return on Twitter – Adam Newman Alive?

The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that the Adam Newman mystery is currently being resolved and Michael Muhney has teased Adam Newman’s return as well. He used his Twitter account on the day Chloe (Elizabeth Hendrickson) revealed to Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) that she’d blown up the cabin where Adam is believed to have died.

The actor who began wearing Adam’s face in 2009 previously stated his hopes of returning to CBS’ top-rated steamer since his involuntary exit from the cast in December 2013. Michael Muhney’s since informed followers that talks were initiated with Y&R’s decision-makers, though no response(s) addressing Muhney’s outreach were made. So tweets that he’s offered in April 2017 about playing Adam again can be interpreted as representing ongoing interest in a revival, rather than a confirmed deal.

Y&R’s co-executive producer and head writer Sally Sussman, an alumni of the show during the Bill Bell years was hired last fall. Her initial statements indicated that the Adam character wasn’t going be recast. However, all who work within this genre and all observant fans know that nothing is certain in the soap world.

Muhney’s has skillfully used social media to stay connected with fans after his exit from the cast. Doing so has enabled hardcore supporters to believe that his return was possible. All who began claiming that he could never return to the show were first proven wrong when documented accounts of his having interviewed with Y&R took place in mid-2014. Justin Hartley was subsequently recast as Adam and debuted in the fall of that year.

Hartley’s nearly two-year run, which ended in the summer of 2016, was widely accepted. Y&R’s writing staff took Adam in a different direction, allowing a softer version of this character to be presented. Resulting storylines proved to be different than were seen during Muhney’s tenure.

Fictionally speaking, Chloe’s view of the man who she believed accidentally killed her daughter never changed. In addition to attempting to kill Adam, she accepted Victor’s (Eric Braeden) incredible offer, left a mental health facility in California, returned to Genoa City, disguised herself and framed Adam for the concocted murder of Constance Bingham (Sally Kellerman).

Last September, 2016 and to no one’s knowledge, Chloe shot Adam with a dart gun and then blew up the cabin where he was hiding. Adam had escaped prison, with Victor’s assistance, and was planning to leave the country with Chelsea and Connor (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois). More than six months later, Chloe’s actions were uncovered by Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Chelsea found Adam’s wedding ring in a dresser drawer in the Chancellor mansion moments before ‘Khloe’s’ remarriage.

A fight ensued, Chloe knocked Chelsea out and drove away. She met with Victor and Nick overheard the conversation. The stage is set for Adam’s return, or the buildup to it. Will that happen? If so, will Muhney prove to be the recast?

This topic remains deeply engaging because Muhney’s actual rehire would equally ignite both fictional and real worlds once again. And that’s what soaps are supposed to do.
