The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Victoria (Amelia Heinle) is prepared to fight to get Billy (Jason Thompson) back. Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) will take matters lying down. Yes, she will try to get pregnant, which would greatly increase her odds of keeping Billy indefinitely.
The issue of Billy loving Vickie has never been in question. But he does seem to actually be in love with Phyllis at the moment. Plus, he thinks that Vickie is over him and therefore not available. The kiss they’ll (Billy and Vickie) share and followup flirting will make Billy wonder if the love of his life is in play again. Meanwhile, Phyllis will battle on a different front.
Phyllis can’t match Vickie when it comes to children. Vickie and Billy share a daughter and she’s also generously raising Billy’s biological son. This version of Phyllis is chronologically younger than Michelle Stafford, who turns 52 in September. Tognoni turns 44 in November and is therefore plausible as the mother of Billy’s next baby.
Longtime Y&R viewers who were married to the idea that Billy and Phyllis could never be a couple appear to only represent one segment of the audience. While this scribe lived in that camp for awhile, he’s come to accept Thompson and Tognoni’s Philly promotion.
Stafford will always remain the iconic Phyllis, as she played her first and for an extended period of time. Miller was dynamically great. His edition of this character resonates. But Tognoni is a fine actor, whose more vulnerable take on Phyllis has given viewers something different to digest. Her Phyllis works in these times. Thompson has soap chops as well. His less frenetic Bill is much less of a lout than Miller’s projection.
Short of some death bed scenario playing out, Phyllis could gain permanent footing with Vickie by having Billy’s baby. Of course Vickie could pursue that tack as well. But considering recent events, any child she would have could always be written as being Ben’s (Ben Hochman).
Jack’s plan (Peter Bergman) to sink Brash and Sassy doesn’t have traction. So, Billy and Vickie will continue to spend plenty of time together, just as Jill (Jess Walton) wanted when she originally took control of that cosmetics business.
Billy is committed to helping Vickie pull her company through its financial difficulties. The injection of cash from the Hamilton-Winters Group allows additional time to do that.
Phyllis and Billy are together, but Philly feels far from secure. Villy isn’t imminent, yet also not dead. CDL is a leading source for everything linked to The Young and the Restless. Check back regularly for Y&R spoilers and news!
