The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Chelsea’s (Melissa Claire Egan) moral tightrope walk will continue. She’s attempting to balance her love for Nick (Joshua Morrow) with the knowledge of how he’s reacted to Victor’s (Eric Braeden) betrayal. Sometimes all apparent options involve negative consequences. Yes, Chelsea remains caught in a vexing situation that’s she’s not fully responsible for.
The former Mrs. Newman remains torn, wanting to tell Nick the truth about Christian’s (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) paternity. However, she can see how her significant other has responded to the various pieces of crucial information that Victor recently withheld from him. That’s a drag on her conscience for sure.
As committed Y&R viewers recall, Adam (then played by Justin Hartley) told Chelsea that he determined Christian was his son through Sage (Kelly Sullivan). He then advised that it was best that they, Chadam, keep that information from Nick because Christian was believed to have been dead at that time.
The choice to not needlessly add to his brother’s grief was wise. Chelsea fully supported her husband’s compassion and logic. And then, as soap goes, Adam is believed to have died in a cabin explosion last September and Sully was revealed to have been Christian (alive and well) all along.
Chelsea then immediately sought Victor’s counsel, as he had also deduced that Adam was Christian’s true father. Victor advised that they should keep the secret and allow Nick to raise the boy he believed was his son. Again, compassion was cited as the leading reason for this conclusion.
Now that Victor is on a rampage viewers are wondering how long it will be before he directly tells Nick about Christian’s paternity, or somehow orchestrates its presentation to him? Clearly this card is on the table and can be played by The Moustache.
Surely Chelsea has been considering whether Victor will go rogue and attack Nick with the truth. Her chances of keeping Chick intact would seem to be better if she makes a preemptive move and tells him what she’s known all along. If she doesn’t and Nick learns, or discovers the truth he could easily turn on her.
Nick’s emotions are raw right now. It’s reasonable to believe that he’d be unable to understand why Chelsea kept this secret and with Victor no less. She knows the Newman men better than anyone, except Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott), who just recently left the Ranch due to her own unwillingness to tolerate the Black Knight’s behavior.
