Night 2 of the Las Vegas began on tonight’s all-new episode of “American Ninja Warrior”. It had the same rules as before with just a few exceptions. One of those exceptions was the time limit. The Las Vegas carries a time limit that could automatically disqualify someone if they take too long on the obstacle course and that can sometimes be almost impossible. Like it was with the course tonight. The course consisted of the Archer Alley, the Propeller Bar, the Double Dipper, the Jumping Spider, the Jeep Run, the Warped Wall, the Razor Beams, and ultimately the Twist & Fly. But several of these obstacles have already gained a name for themselves because of how they’ve taken out ninjas. And the worst obstacle was the Double Dipper.

The Double Dipper took out countless ninjas last season when it was first introduced and it has acted in the same fashion this year. Luckily, the first ninja to come out hadn’t had a problem with this obstacle. Alex Carson had used his incredible height and timing to surpass the obstacle and have an impressive run. He made it all the way to the Twist & Fly when the timer sounded as a reminder that he had less than a minute to go. Alex had tried to rush the next part in order to make it to the buzzer in time and it did was make him fall. He crashed out into the water and his run was over before anyone knew it. So that was just one example of how the timer could sometimes mess with the ninjas more than the obstacles.

The ninja to take a stab at the course was Bootie Cothran. He was one of the oldest ninjas around and probably weighed about a hundred pounds yet he soon proved to be a fierce contender and many had had their eyes trained on him going into the Finals. Bootie had started his run tonight with some trouble on the first obstacle and had needed to take another swing on the Archer Run before he could disembark except Bootie hadn’t been able to bounce back from the Double Dipper. The obstacle had thrown him so high that he could write off the obstacle and crashed out midway through his run. And, naturally, he wasn’t the only one to have experienced a problem on the Double Dipper.

Abby Clark had also had a problem with the obstacle. Her run hadn’t started smoothly either because she had had a problem with getting off the Archer Steps and so she struggled through the first couple of obstacles until she came across the Double Dipper. The Double Dipper had swung her so hard that she lost sight of her hands and it forced her to fall, so this one obstacle is seriously no joke. It took out two promising ninjas that everyone had such high hopes for and, to make things worse, there was still more bad news to come. There was a video message from Jessie Graff. She was a female ninja that many believed would push a buzzer tonight and unfortunately, she couldn’t even have her run.

Jessie received a once in a lifetime opportunity to work as a stuntwoman on the new Wonder Woman 1984 movie. She had always been a fan of the franchise and chance to work on such an iconic film was apparently too hard to pass up, so Jessie couldn’t run tonight and it meant she was out of the competition this year. So the hit, really, just kept coming! The next ninja to have their run was Kevin Bull. He was a veteran of ANW and his run had started off as quite strong. He flew through the first few obstacles and so if there was one thing that could be said against it had been the fact he wasted too much energy. Kevin took too long on the last obstacle and giving himself extra turns on the Twist & Fly ruined his energy. It made what happened next to be a mistake.

Kevin tried to throw himself at the rope ladder he was supposed to climb to the buzzer and he was so tired that he hadn’t been able to hold on. He fell right into the water and was instantly disqualified when he had been so close to becoming the first finisher of the night. But then it was Brian Kretsch’s turn. He too was a veteran and so no one saw him wiping out on the Propeller Bar. It just sort of happened. Brian had thrown himself onto the obstacle and he hadn’t quite gotten a good grip before he tried to move on. In his rush, he made a mistake and he too fell into the water. And so there were upsetting runs as well as shockingly early exits until eventually, it was Lucas Reale’s turn.

The young man had started his ninja training right before his father passed away. However, Lucas decided to go ahead with his training because he knew that’s what his father wanted for him and so he took to being ninja fairly easy. He had no problems with the other rounds and hadn’t had a problem tonight. Lucas came out of the gate as fast as possible and he did everything to maintain that timing as took down one obstacle after another. He was so fast that he made it to the last obstacle with plenty of time and didn’t even need to bother rushing. Lucas instead took his time to get it right and that’s why he became the first finisher of the night, so he must have broken a curse or something.

The next ninja had been Eric Middleton and he too had had an impressive run. The Bug Ninja was known for his habit of eating bugs and his bet with the commentators was still ongoing. The deal was that they eat whatever bug he cooked for them if he pressed a buzzer and so he went out of his way to press a buzzer tonight. Eric was quick out of the gate and he always made sure to stay on top of his time. He had a watch on him that he constantly checked it as he ran the course. So it helped him maintain his time. Eric had no problem with the obstacles and he gave himself enough time in the end that it hadn’t mattered that he got turned around on the Twist & Fly. He had still been fine and had made a jump so easy that it shocked no one that he went on to become the second finisher.

The commentators – Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbaja-Biamila – had hated that scorpion they ate. There was a moment when they were spitting it up and so everyone had had a good laugh at that. It had been such a great moment before the audience dealt tragic blows. The next ninja had been Lance Pekus and the Cowboy Ninja was a delight to watch though he wiped out on the Propeller Bar and was instantly disqualified right along with Barclay Stockett. She had gone after Pekus and had had an inspiring run until she fell short on the Jeep Run. Therefore, the women ninjas had again lost a great one. Except it wasn’t quite over for them because they’re still a few women left to go and so the show carried on in the meantime.

Chris Wilczewski who had made an incredible comeback this year had once again proved why he was such a great ninja with his run. He was fast and he was on point. Chris went on to become the third finisher and was in turn quick followed by Najee Richardson. The Phoenix and former gymnast had flown through the course tonight. Najee hadn’t slowed down for anything and had reached the highest on the Twist & Fly than anyone else. It made his final climb the easiest and so he became the fourth finisher. Then there was RJ Roman and Zach Day who both joined the increasingly long list of finishers. And with these ninjas all proving their families right, it had looked like things had taken a turn for the better!

When the truth was the good feels was momentary. The next ninja had been Brett Sims. He had a running bet with his friend Ryan Stratis that meant whoever made it the farthest the fastest got to keep their beard and, well, neither of them had wanted to lose that bet. Bret had gone first and he had been doing well until the dreaded Double Dipper. He hadn’t been able to get his hands on the bar in time and that caused him to fall into the water. So then it was Ryan’s turn. He had been doing well and he had made it past the Double Dipper which meant he got to shave his friend, so things had looked good for him at first. He had been keeping on track to take the course when he came across the Jeep Run. He landed too badly on the wheel and had crashed out before he knew it.

Then There was Kenny Niemitalo. He had been making good timing when he accidentally injured himself during the run. Kenny had tried limping his way to the finish line and he had almost done it yet he hadn’t been enough for him while it had been enough for Nicholas Coolridge. He had also injured himself during one of his landings and had just managed to make it to the finish line. Meaning injury or no it was still possible to press that buzzer. The next ninja was the last chance for a woman to press that buzzer. Meagan Martin had come out strong and she had made it as far as the jumping spider when she lost her footing. She slipped and there went the last chance for a woman to make it to Stage 2 this year.

Thankfully, Drew Drechsel had been next. He was a ninja that very rarely disappoints, and he showed everyone why tonight. He had fallen during the City Finals and he knew he couldn’t afford to risk that again. So he went back to his true form. He flew through the course and finish with one of the fastest times this year. It just wasn’t the fastest because there was Jake Murray. He went last out of everyone and while he was usually crazy with his antics – he pushed some of that to the side to become the fastest finisher of the night.

THE END!
