General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that creepy Dr. Bensch (James DePaiva) still has big plans for Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin). His predatory behavior is far from over! Kiki’s been struggling to make sense of Dr. Bensch’s mood swings and bizarre decisions. He’s playing mind games, so Kiki’s just not sure what to expect on any given day.
Dr. Bensch berated Kiki when she couldn’t answer a question at GH. Shadow program students are really just meant to observe, so the incident caught Kiki off guard. She knew the answer, but her delay brought a major outburst from Dr. Bensch. He even declared that he was wrong about the potential he saw in her.
The next time Kiki interacted with Dr. Bensch, he was actually quite pleasant. Dr. Bensch suggested that he wanted to have Kiki for another round of the program. He gave plenty of praise and acted like she was just being sensitive before. Kiki’s still troubled by this whole arrangement, but she’s at least a bit calmer now.
How long will it be until Dr. Bensch flips the anger switch on again? He’s showing the classic signs of an abuser. Dr. Bensch likes to show off his authority and then reel Kiki back in with compliments. He wants Kiki to think she needs him so she’ll be under his control.
Some General Hospital fans don’t understand why Kiki’s choosing to stay silent. Dr. Bensch definitely deserves to go down for sexual harassment. That kiss he planted on Kiki was unwanted and highly inappropriate. However, Kiki gazed at Dr. Bensch’s many degrees and awards at one point. She may think no one will believe a lowly med student when this guy’s got serious clout at GH.
Plus, Kiki fears she’ll just provoke Dr. Bensch and make things worse. She panicked when Dr. Griffin Munro (Matt Cohen) offered to talk to his colleague about the harsh treatment. If Kiki comes forward with allegations and they’re dismissed, Dr. Bensch would be free to destroy her. She really wants a career in medicine, so she’s keeping her mouth shut for now.
General Hospital often highlights important issues in the news, so this story based on the “Me Too” movement is timely. There’s a good chance GH will go all in and show why it’s important to speak up. We can probably expect Kiki to face more inappropriate advances. The ABC soap could even rev up the danger with some despicable shockers.
How far will Dr. Bensch go? If they manage to keep the peace for a while, will Bensch convince himself that he’s still got a shot? If Kiki once again refuses, will the shady doc drug her?
