General Hospital Spoilers: Memory-Mapping Twist Brings Shocking Revelations – AJ Quartermaine Still Alive?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that there could be another twist in Jason (Steve Burton) and Drew’s (Billy Miller) memory-mapping mystery. Peter (Wes Ramsey) recently revealed that he has info on Patients 1-5, so there’s a lot more to explore in this storyline. Perhaps one of the twins isn’t who he thinks he is!

GH fans will recall that when the Quartermaine brothers appeared as teens and young adults, Sean Kanan played Alan Jr. (AJ). In recent tweets, Kanan expressed interest in returning to General Hospital. He hasn’t been on The Bold and the Beautiful in quite a while, so he may be looking for another soap comeback. However, General Hospital could have a recast hidden right under everyone’s noses!

The last time we saw AJ was in 2014. Ava (Maura West) tricked Sonny (Maurice Benard) into thinking AJ was his fiancée’s killer, so Sonny took action. He (supposedly) killed AJ on screen to avenge Kate Howard’s aka Connie Falconeri’s (Kelly Sullivan) death.

General Hospital viewers saw AJ ascending a “staircase to heaven” with his deceased grandparents, Edward (John Ingle) and Lila (Anna Lee), leading the way. Before that, Monica (Leslie Charleson) faked AJ’s death and kept him hidden. That happened not too many months after Jason was shot and presumed dead.

We never actually saw AJ buried or put into the Quartermaine mausoleum. Could the staircase to heaven scene be misleading? Is AJ actually still alive? Any death can be undone in the soap world, so it’s certainly an option to consider.

Many GH watchers didn’t buy Billy Miller’s reveal as Jason – and not just because some preferred Burton in the role. At the time, it was tough to get past Miller’s stockier build. He’s got a different body type than Burton, but Kanan has a similar stockiness.

Drew believes he’s a former Navy SEAL, so he’s been through rigorous training of his body and mind. That means Drew might’ve been able to fight the memory mapping. His mental toughness could’ve helped him avoid mind control, which may be a sign that the Drew in Port Charles isn’t the real one.

That brings us to an important question. Who’s the person who had a brain chip implanted and was broken out of Crichton-Clark by Robin, (Kimberly McCullough)? He was believed to be Jason and now Drew, but could his real identity lead to an unexpected shocker?

GH fans will also recall Spinelli’s (Bradford Anderson) computer program, which offered a glimpse of Jake Doe’s face before plastic surgery. That still didn’t account for the changes in his build. We also know Andre (Anthony Montgomery) created the memory-mapping procedure, but he wasn’t entirely in control of it. The procedure fell into Helena Cassadine’s (Constance Towers) hands eventually.

Helena held the man who’s believed to be Drew on Cassadine Island. After she inflicted her torture, he “died” and was held in stasis for Robin to later resurrect. What if that wasn’t Drew after all? It’s possible the real Drew Cain is one of the patients at the Boronsky Clinic. If he fought off the memory-mapping as we mentioned before, his identity could still be intact.

In other words, THAT Drew may know exactly who he is. With that in mind, who would Miller’s Drew really be? Could the final twist of this plot be that Drew is really AJ Quartermaine? If Drew’s Navy SEAL training prevented his memory mapping, AJ might’ve been a backup option. He could’ve been given Jason’s memories, which would make the stockier build situation make sense.
