HTGAWM begins with Laurel Castilloa (Karla Souza) wakes up after a bad dream, in her hospital room, remembering her father had promised her that he had taken care of any foreseeable problems that could arise. On the TV, Jorge Castillo (Esai Morales) is the world’s newest Multi-Millionaire as Antares Technologies goes public with IPO.

Oliver Hampton (Conrad Picamora) lays devastated in bed, as Connor Walsh (Jack Falahee) attempts to comfort him by bringing him breakfast in bed. Connor wants him to change the channel, but Oliver says “everything we did, was for nothing!”

Michaela Pratt (Aja Naomi King) and Asher Millstone (Matt McGorry) are also watching the news, she worries that Tegan Price (Amirah Vann) was fired. Asher tries to stop her, then Michaela confesses that she already texted Tegan earlier, congratulating her on the IPO. Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) sends her a text.

Bonnie Winterbottom (Liza Weil) is in her office when ADA Todd Denver (Benito Martinez) wants to know why she was defending Annalise’s former students. She says she was protecting Denver, because Asher might have cracked, revealing that he framed Annalise for killing Wes Gibbons (Alfred Enoch) and she didn’t want that to blow back on his campaign.

Laurel continues to watch the news with Annalise and Frank Delfino (Charlie Weber) saying at least he is on international news, bragging about how rich he is, instead of taking care of the baby; they can use this against him in the custody hearing. Annalise informs her that her father has been visiting the baby all the time. Laurel is desperate to get out but Annalise tells her she needs to trust her to do her job.

Outside the room, Frank says they can’t keep lying but Annalise feels she is safer in the hospital but Frank disagrees. Michaela arrives and both tell her to babysit Laurel, Frank feels they should tell her about the voicemail Wes made to Dominick. Dominick’s phone rings while they are talking and Annalise is surprised he kept it. He says it is evidence he didn’t kill Wes and proof that Jorge doesn’t know Dominick is dead; Annalise orders him to destroy it.

Annalise comes to see Nate Lahey (Billy Brown), asking for the hard drive; he says it is gone. She tells Nate this about reuniting a mother and her child; he reminds her about her class action lawsuit. Annalise rounds up her former students and hires them back to work on the lawsuit; Asher wonders why they are doing this since they have more pressing matters like Laurel and the baby. Oliver feels like Simon Drake (Behzad Dabu) is forgotten by them, but she asks him if he really wants to make her the object of his anger. Connor finds Annalise in the hallway and tells her to be less hard on Oliver, but she says Oliver doesn’t need to be babied and that is one thing he never understood about Oliver.

Frank wraps up Dominick’s body and watches as the car is crushed at the wrecking yard. He doesn’t listen to Annalise and keeps the phone still. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Michaela looks at her phone and sees that Tegan is still not responding. Laurel begs to use Michaela’s phone and she finally gives in, hoping to find a way to get out of the hospital.

Annalise goes to Wes’ tiny apartment and finds all the baby clothes that Laurel has been saving there. Bonnie runs into Nate, who says he is going into a meeting about Asher Millstone, claiming he is still a good guy.

Oliver hacks the hospital files and learns that Simon’s oxygen levels are falling but he is waiting to see the results of his latest kidney functions. Annalise rushes back to the hospital because Laurel texts her urgent from Michaela’s phone. She reveals that she already filed the paperwork that Laurel wanted and got denied. Michaela chases her down the hallway and Annalise explains that Laurel was reckless and who is to say she won’t be the same as soon as she gets out of there.

Bonnie tells Frank she doesn’t have the hard drive. He says Denver works for Jorge Castillo and she works for Denver. He uses the baby as a reason for her to help but she tells him she wishes he truly pulled the trigger that night and killed himself; he promises that she won’t be able to hate him forever.

Nate comes to see Connor, Asher, and Oliver, who reveal they are working on the class action lawsuit. He wants to talk to Asher privately, saying someone saw Asher rough up Drake at a cocktail party. Nate tells them to do nothing, and say nothing; when they come out of the room, they find out that Oliver has left.

Oliver goes to the hospital to see Simon. He tells the nurse at the desk that he is Simon’s boyfriend, but he is still in the closet and that might be the reason he might have killed himself, due to the pressure.

Frank and Annalise were watching Jorge on the news; he feels like Jorge is watching him and Annalise says he probably is. Frank again says they should tell Laurel about the voicemail but Annalise no. He thinks if they tell her, Laurel might be able to tell them how Dominick and Wes knew each other.
Suddenly Dominick’s phone rings and Annalise is angry that he still has it, he says he downloaded an app to find out where the call is coming from, and it’s the DA’s office. He encourages her to go to Bonnie, the one person who can help them.

Annalise knocks at Bonnie’s front door. They sit in the living room and Bonnie tells Annalise to just ask her for help with the hard drive. Bonnie tells her to just go as she clearly isn’t ready to do this. Annalise apologizes for firing her and for making her feel alone. She sits back down and tells Bonnie its her turn.

Oliver talks to Simon, but the nurse comes and says they have to leave or he will have to call security. Asher tells Connor to go visit Laurel and he will stay here until Oliver is done; as Oliver says visiting hours aren’t done. Asher asks Connor to just let him be the hero for once.

Bonnie wants to know why what they mean to each other is so much more complicated than any stupid wife or husband or girlfriend. She isn’t in love with her. Bonnie admits that sometimes Annalise needing her is too much but Annalise says their entire relationship has been about them needing each other. Bonnie and Annalise are both angry right now in their lives.

Michaela talks to Laurela about going into early labor, and she says it wasn’t Simon. Laurela says it was Frank and she felt it when he hit her in the belly while he and Connor fought. She begs Michaela not to tell him because it would kill him.

Asher tells Oliver that when he has this urge to hate himself or to hate his life, he has to bury it – use food or sex or work and it will eventually work. It sounds messed up but it was the only way Asher didn’t end up hating himself like his dad.

Annalise shares that God brutalized her life. She lost a baby, she’s an alcoholic. She saw her dead husband’s blood all over her living room floor. Have kids that mess up her life, calling her saying someone’s got shot, having babies in elevators. Bonnie tells her she doesn’t have to help them and wants to know why she helps them. Annalise knows she doesn’t but she does it so she doesn’t need to feel so empty and horrible sometimes. She worries that Laurel will kill herself now that her dad took the baby and Wes is dead; it sends her right back to that bathroom with Bonnie’s hand down her throat. Annalise begins to cry, thinking of all the pain they could have avoided if Bonnie had just let her go!

Bonnie brings the research that was uncovered from Simon Drake’s computer to ADA Todd Denver, there was evidence that links Antares Technologies to Denver’s campaign funds. Bonnie says she destroyed all the evidence, so she could keep her job there. In her office, Bonnie listens to the recording of what just transpired.

Tegan Price meets with Nate Lahey, who wants to know more about the altercation between Asher and Simona few months prior. She firmly believes Simon’s gunshot wound was a suicide attempt.

Asher and Oliver finally come to see Laurel in her room. She apologizes to everyone. Connor says this place is turning her into a “Mush-cake” and they should kidnap her. Michaela assures them that Annalise is on it as Oliver suggests hacking into the attending’s emails to see if there is anything they can manipulate, so they can get her out of there. They all talk about various ways to get her out.

Michaela meets with Annalise and Frank, saying she has to get her out of there before the place drives her insane just like her mother. Asher and Connor are writing a petition for review right now and again Annalise worries what she might do when she gets out. Michaela keeps insisting she didn’t do this to herself and finally reveals that Frank accidentally hit her when he and Connor were fighting. Frank is devastated and Michaela says Laurel made her promise not to say anything.

Dr. Isaac Roa (Jimmy Smits) is finishing up with a patient when Annalise is outside waiting. He says “No” to her, even when she apologizes for what she said about his daughter. He says he doesn’t care and the disciplinary board will find her a new therapist. She says she isn’t there for herself and he is the only one she can turn to. Annalise pleads Laurel’s case, saying her father isn’t there for her. She is alone in the hospital and her baby was stolen from her. Isaac wants to know why she is involved in this, and she says this is about saving her. Does Annalise want to know why that is so wrong?

Annalise wakes up Laurel and introduces her to Dr. Isaac Roa. Frank stays in the hallway with Annalise. Connor is frustrated as he goes through the files, saying how unjust it is that people of color who are systematically abused by a racists justice system; Asher looks at the file and commons at the weird name – Nate Lahey!

At the gym, Nate Lahey is working out, while Laurel continues to answer the question for Dr. Isaac Roa, expressing how it is impossible to make her father pay for his crimes because he has people whose entire jobs are to protect him. Michaela meets Tegan outside, feeling bad that she could have had something to do with her missing the IPO announcement. Tegan smirks at her and tells her it’s amazing how important she thinks she is.

Michaela wants to know why Tegan is covering for her. Tegan says whatever she and her friends did has put everyone in danger and the fact that she is there right now makes her see that Michaela has no idea how much danger she really is in and how scared she really should be. She orders her not to text, call nor ambush her again.

Laurel admits to having thoughts of hurting her father he entire life, but there is no hurting him. Laurel is aware of her mother’s diagnosis, she has never shown any symptoms and knows if she ever has, she would never get custody of her son and he is the only thing that matters to her right now.

Todd Denver meets with Jorge Castillo in his car, admitting he hasn’t found Dominick. Denver informs him they have a bigger problem – Bonnie Winterbottom!

Dr. Roa meets with Annalise and Frank and reveals that she is showing some depression but her hormone levels are normal and Laurel has been granted immediate release. She is brought back to Wes’ apartment where she has been living. Frank is staying with her, but she doesn’t want a bodyguard. Dominick’s phone goes off and she looks at Frank. She demands to know why he still had his phone, Annalise tells him to play it.

She listens as Wes’ voice comes on and he says “Its Kristoff. I’m in trouble. We all could be. Call me as soon as you get this.” The phone rings as she is holding, Annalise wants the phone back, worried it is her father; but Laurel answers it and says, “Hi Mom!”
