Agent Reese remembered how she came to adopt Leah on tonight’s all-new episode of “The Crossing”.

Reese, as it turns, was an Apex. She was genetically engineered killing machine and saw the human race as belonging to the “Commons”. Reese had at one point viewed the commons as an inferior race and hadn’t had a problem when she was assigned a mission. She and another Apex agent were ordered to enter a camp full of sick humans and the two of them hadn’t been scared in the slightest. They knew the disease that was killing off the human race was one their kind had created and therefore they had been immune to the disease. The disease was called “the Mantal’s” and Reese had walked in a camp full of people dying however she saw a baby there that wasn’t infected and she fell in love with this child immediately.

Reese could see for herself that an innocent child didn’t deserve to die and that’s why she had wanted to protect her. The agent had picked up the child and had wanted to take her home with her, but her partner had wanted to kill the child and so Reese had been forced to kill him. He thought the baby didn’t matter because it wasn’t their kind and he would never have changed his mind. That was something Reese realized within seconds and so she took care of whatever stood in her way of taking the child home with her. She took Leah home and had had to take her significant other down a few steps because he had a problem with Leash as well. He had been assigned as Reese’s spouse in their society and he believed that they should get rid of the baby.

He had claimed that people would find out about the child and that there would be consequences, except Reese hadn’t cared what he thought. He thought they could petition their government to get a procreation license and have a child of their own to replace the child she had already fell in love with. Reese had told him that she wasn’t going to give up Leah and so she also forced her spouse into keeping the child a secret. He would be in just as much as her if anyone found out and that had kept him quiet. Hence he went along with Reese when she illegally adopted Leah in the year of 2187 and he stayed quiet until things were beginning to get out of hand. The child they had taken in was also infected by the disease and the only way to help her was to give her some of Reese’s DNA.

Reese had kept treating Leah with her DNA until one day her spouse informed on her. He went to their superiors and told them everything. He had even kept the fact he informed on her a secret in order to blindside her. Reese had gone into a meeting believing she was going to inform everyone about this time travel she had heard about and she told them that she would be able to do her job-killing commons yet her bosses no longer believe she could do such a job and they had given Reese an out by asking if she had anything to confess. She told them she hadn’t and had seen her spouse come into the meeting saying the secret was always going to get out. Only she knew better! She knew she had been betrayed and had killed everyone in that room besides him.

Reese had decided to keep her spouse alive because she knew she wasn’t going to stay in their “union” any longer. She went home and packed both her stuff and Leah’s. The little girl had never gone outside in her entire life and her mother had to reassure her that everything was going to be ok. Reese told her daughter that they were going to a place called “the Long Peace” and she had taken her to the transporter where she believed they would both time-travel. Except there was a problem. The transporter had experienced problems and suddenly everyone was separated. Reese was even separated from Leah after she tried to give the little girl as much oxygen as possible by kissing her daughter.

That’s how Leah survived. The little girl was one forty-seven people that had been pulled from the water and almost four hundred people hadn’t made it. It had been a tragedy! The survivors at the camp had been so upset that they wanted to have a memorial for everyone they lost. They realized they were honoring people they didn’t really know, but they had all gotten on that transporter wanting a better a life and so the survivors asked for the necessary permission. They knew that the number of guards kept going up and hadn’t wanted to risk upsetting the people helping, so they asked someone during the DNA tests. They all had to undergo DNA tests because Homeland claimed they wanted to find out where the survivors came from when in actuality there had been another reason.

Agent Emma Ren had collected the survivors’ DNA believing what her boss said and what she hadn’t known was that he had ordered the DNA test because he wanted to make sure there weren’t any other Apex in the group. He wasn’t an Apex himself and the people he had come with in an earlier migration had wanted to keep their mission top secret. Therefore, they did their best to claim that the survivors were dangerous and shouldn’t be allowed to go free. The earlier commons had wanted to protect themselves so bad that they made it dangerous for their own people and not only that they also wanted to get their hands on Reese. Reese stood for everything they despised and so they weren’t looking to arrest her.

The people in power wanted Reese dead and unfortunately Jude gave them an opportunity. He had wanted to reunite Reese with Leah because he knew what it was like to be separated from their child and he was going to help her right up until he found out more about the Apex. He talked to Emma and she had showed him footage of the survivors describing the war. They mentioned what the Apex did to them (which included taking their children away) and that they created the disease. The same disease that had returned in Leah and why the little girl was forced into quarantine. That had changed everything for Jude and so he had lead Reese into a trap where he locked her into reinforced shed.

Jude told her that she had kept certain things out of her story and that he had to do what he had to do. He then called Emma and told her that he had the Apex, but he had wanted Emma to come alone so that they could talk to Reese and try to find a middle road. Jude had asked Emma not to say anything and she broke that promise right after finishing their conversation. She called her boss that she didn’t know had his own agenda and she told him where to find Reese. Reese on her part had overheard some of Jude’s conversation with Emma and so she knew her daughter was up at the old camp. She had been trying to figure out how to get out of the shed when an armed SEAL Team arrived and had tried to kill her on sight.

They shot up the boatshed and had managed to injure Reese yet she got away. She escaped and had was slowly heading towards that camp by herself because she knew she couldn’t trust. Only Jude knew after that incident at the boatshed where he had been gassed and then placed in his car twenty miles from town, that he couldn’t trust Emma. She wanted to do things her way then fine. He asked her not to bother him anymore and had tried to return to a normal life in which he finally got to see his son. Jude didn’t want to think about the survivors or the Apex because he meant it when he said he was done.

THE END!
