The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that more changes are brewing in Genoa City. Rey’s (Jordi Vilasuso) about to blow into town and all signs point to him being a love interest for Sharon (Sharon Case). He’ll stirring up plenty of J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) drama as well, but the point seems to be getting a new man for Sharon on canvas.
Nick’s (Joshua Morrow) betrayal is sure to tear “Shick” apart, so that’ll leave the door open for some couple shakeups. In a recent interview with Michael Fairman, Morrow praised Nick’s previous pairing with Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan). He didn’t seem quite as enthusiastic about Nick’s rushed reunion with Sharon.
Of course, we also know Y&R recently lost Hilary (Mishael Morgan). She was a major player on canvas, so her departure has left a real void on the CBS soap. Will The Young and the Restless offset the damage with a big return? There’s been buzz about the show potentially recasting Adam Newman. If they’re going to do that, you’d better believe they’ll try to get Egan back as Chelsea.
When Egan departed earlier this year, she promised this wasn’t the end of the road. Let’s consider her exit statement on Twitter. “I love this show (and this genre) so very much, and am so grateful to this amazing crew and cast, especially my beyond wonderful Josh Morrow.” Clearly, Egan enjoyed working with Morrow as much as he enjoyed working with her. Could Y&R put them back together?
Egan went on to say that the “cast, crew, and everyone behind the scenes at Sony and CBS are truly the best at what they do and are my family.” She loved working at the Young and the Restless, so she could be missing it by now.
It’s worth mentioning that Y&R is the most recent project on Egan’s IMDB page. She doesn’t seem to have anything else going on yet, so maybe her primetime and film plans are panning out. It’s a tough business out there!
Egan herself insisted that it wasn’t a final farewell. She said, “To you incredible fans, thank you for EVERYTHING. This isn’t goodbye. Truly. Just goodbye for now.” It sounds like Egan had every intention of returning in some capacity. That could be an option as the show moves forward with new storylines.
In that interview we mentioned with Morrow, he noted that it would’ve been great to have a Newman brother battle over Chelsea. If Chelsea comes back, she might be able to avoid charges and make amends with Nick. Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) and her partners in crime have done far worse than Chelsea at this point!
Once “Chick” is solid again, that’s when they could unleash a new version of Adam on Genoa City. It’d be an exciting story! Would you like to see Chelsea make a comeback? What about an Adam recast? Should Y&R do that triangle they seemed to be planning on?
