The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Is J.T. Killed Off During February Sweeps?

The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that J.T. (Thad Luckinbill) might die in Genoa City this month. His preexisting heart condition, combined with Luckinbill’s comments about potentially being part of the cast only through February makes all Y&R devotees wonder if Vickie (Amelia Heinle) will lose her recently revived love?

This would be a very dramatic exit for a younger middle-aged character if executive producer and head writer Mal Young decided to take this type of stance. Luckinbill may have returned for a limited run knowing that his character would face a final exit. This could be his farewell to daytime and his fans after leaving Y&R following a long run, in 2010.

Viewers were recently shown an flashback electrocution scene, where J.T.’s heart problem was said to have arisen from. His subsequent use of prescription medication was then confirmed as apparently condition related, rather than being an abusive addiction issue of some kind.

Hardcore The Young and the Restless fans surely feel that J.T.’s specific arc is seemingly being rush-written. Instead of a reconciliation with Vickie taking up to a year, as has been the case with other returned personalities, J.T.V. (this scribe’s invented nickname for the couple) revived itself within weeks.

J.T.’s return to GC was steeped in his investigation of Newman Enterprises. However, instead of that obvious personal conflict being milked for all it’s worth, it was written to a smooth conclusion last month. Mr. Hellstrom only returned in December. How many people have successfully avoided conflict with the Newman family so quickly in the past?

Reed (Tristan Lake Leabu) left his home in Washington D.C. because of issues he was having with his father. Upon J.T.’s arrival, Reed avoided his dad. But that only lasted for a few weeks. By February, father and son were talking about their shared interest in guitars. It has taken some teen characters years to reach that moment of plot peace.

Cane (Daniel Goddard) generously gave J.T. a job at Chancellor Industries. Luckinbill’s character quickly becomes disillusioned, is offered a job as the head of Newman Enterprises security, which just happened to open, and then tells Cane off after quitting. Yes, his career is on fast-forward.

Eerily, Vickie just mouthed partial wedding vows to J.T. that focused upon them not parting until death. That came after he’d rearranged her business meeting that allows them to have dinner together on Valentine’s Day. Vickie’s ominous comment also came before another J.T. outburst. He questioned if he was Vickie’s rebound.

Luckinbill did state, upon his return to Y&R, that J.T. might only be in town until February, or March. So, it’s possible that his character doesn’t die until next month. But fans of this actor are hoping that J.T. isn’t written off to Heaven.

Ideally, J.T. will remain with the cast indefinitely. But if he has to go, here’s hoping that his exit scenario leaves room for a future reprisal. Although, Luckinbill could return to Y&R again someday even if J.T. is killed off. He could play Mr. Hellstrom’s unknown twin, who’s never been known to exist.
