The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that J.T.’s (Thad Luckinbell) current storyline really has viewers buzzing. Of course, some of that chatter isn’t good. Y&R’s decision to take J.T. down this abusive path has been quite controversial. Let’s take a look at the fan reaction and consider what’s ahead.
For the most part, The Young and the Restless watchers seem outraged by the changes in J.T.’s character. He hasn’t always made great choices in the past, but he’s downright nasty now! J.T.’s got some serious anger issues and always finds a way to make Victoria (Amelia Heinle) feel like dirt.
Many fans were loving the hot reunion between these exes, but that’s being ruined. Social media users haven’t been shy about voicing their displeasure. One Twitter user called this storyline “an absolute mess.” She added that the show picked the “wrong characters and are now twisting their characterization into a pretzel to try and justify this.”
Another viewer agreed that this just isn’t like J.T. He said, “Having JT be an abuser makes no sense and it’s a lie considering the history…” One fan capped off a rant with “I HATE THIS.” Can’t make it any clearer than that!
However, a few Y&R watchers out there are willing to give this story a chance. Some admitted they’re interested in what it’s building to. Others thought it might be helpful to those in abusive situations. “I know people don’t want the domestic violence storyline, but it’s a part of everyday life,” one Twitter user pointed out. “And if it’s told right, I think it could help people.”
There are even some viewers who just love Luckinbell and are willing to deal with the character trashing. You could argue that this storyline is better than no storyline at all. At least Luckinbell was willing to return and he’s getting some juicy material during his stint.
No matter how you feel about J.T.’s abusive turn, it sounds like things are about to get much worse. The Young and the Restless spoilers suggest that J.T.’s going to get physical with Victoria, so that’ll definitely raise the stakes. Victoria may not be able to ignore what she’s facing anymore.
