The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Nick (Joshua Morrow) may need a comfortable emotional shoulder to lean on in the near future. While their connection was hardly perfect, Shick’s love was real and included children who are loved. If Nick acts on impulse and leaves Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan), a long-awaiting reunion with his original flame, Sharon (Sharon Case) appears more plausible than ever.
As hardcore viewers recall, Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) prevented Shick’s remarriage plan in 2014. Her literal awakening and return to Genoa City resulted in spilled truth that stopped Nick and Sharon’s nuptials cold. But that was eons ago in soapy time.
As of early 2018, Nick just broke a bottle of perfume that Adam (as most recently played by Justin Hartley) gave his then-wife. That storyline point, with inserted plot prop, proved to be a setup for what came next.
Nick and Chelsea were in the bathroom when that incident took place. Nick’s need to handle a plumbing issue which resulted due to the early departure of his contractor. That person returned to renovation tasks that Nick and his mom are leading in another part of town.
Subsequent handy man efforts result in Nick finding an exorbitant amount of money stashed in the penthouse vents. Chelsea confirms the dough is connected to Adam, which purposely writes this apparently dead character back into the show again.
Why have there been so many references to Adam within recent weeks? It would seem hard to imagine that Y&R’s executive producer and head writer Mal Young has no reason for doing so.
Soap opera viewers are super savvy. They know (or are being encouraged to believe) that a series of foreshadowed clues are leading to Adam Newman’s return. A solid contingent is hoping that means Michael Muhney’s recast. If not, then another actor will become the fourth adult Adam since 2008.
If the last paragraph doesn’t prove true, then Shick’s repairing could be an alternate reason for this setup. That wouldn’t seem the best course of action, yet projecting that outcome does involve facts verses as yet unconfirmed conjecture regarding Adam.
If Nick becomes aware of Christian’s true paternity, possibly as a result of additionally uncovered secrets found within the penthouse, then Sharon would surely be a source of solace. “Chelsea’s past is coming back to haunt her”, as Egan’s social media feed states. That reference implies something, or someone as Y&R fans will soon know.
