The Young and the Restless spoilers tease that Summer’s (Hunter King) unbelievably realized dream of being with Billy (Jason Thompson) could easily lead to far more than even she desired. Might she and Billy welcome another child into the world nine months from now?
Oh, my, gosh, with an exclamation mark added for extra effect at the end of this hyper-emotional sentence! Did you hear that Summer is pregnant?
Okay, okay, anyone who is familiar with soapy plots knows that it’s far too soon to know if King’s character actually conceived Billy’s child during his night of revenge passion. “And that’s what it was snowflake”, as Mariah (Camryn Grimes) may one day tell her nemesis. Mariah projected again, “Billy doesn’t love you. He just wanted to get back at your mom because she was with Nick.”
Of course, someone other than Billy could be the father of Summer’s first child, assuming that she is pregnant. Kyle (Michael Mealor) apparently didn’t collect the tawdry bet he won with his ex-girlfriend. But maybe Syle did connect in a scene that wasn’t shown?
But the more likely non-Billy option could be Summer’s previously referenced, but never seen boyfriend Pax (an uncast character to-date). That off-screen option would allow a full paternity mystery to be explored, with at least Billy sweating it out, followed by the introduction of a new character who would help Summer raise the child, or hopefully become her next husband.
The simple idea of Silly seemed fully preposterous upon its initial tease a handful of months ago. Yet, Y&R continued writing Summer into visually uncomfortable situations with Billy again and again and again. Yes, this point was three-times affirmed because it was and is so objectionable.
Billy finally told Summer to get lost and then followed that with his verbal humiliation at the Genoa City Athletic Club rooftop last week. Countless fans were breathing a full sigh of relief, so much so that the collective exhale must have been heard by Billy. Ever the contrarian and self-saboteur, he must have decided to hurt Phyllis by also going against the crowd and glammed onto Summer.
The idea that Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) could be turned into a fully sympathetic character, considering her backstory all the way to Michelle Stafford’s Danny- (Michael Damian) chasing days, is incredible. No matter how strongly this storyline is rejected, all fair-minded fans must at least give a modest kudos to Y&R for crafting a scenario that delivered this seemingly impossible outcome. Yes, some people feel sorry for Phyllis.
Billy and Phyllis fall in love. Amazing. Then, Summer targets her mother’s boyfriend, who is Jack’s (Peter Bergman) brother. Jack eventually supports Philly. Phyllis sleeps with Nick (Joshua Morrow), which stops Shick’s remarriage, that had been more than a decade in the making, which was also stopped four years ago by Phyllis as well.
Now, just weeks before Halloween, one of the scariest teasers in recent memory will serve to create ulcers inside Y&R’s hardcore fans. Summer is pregnant with Billy’s baby? Oh, the horror, if this plot proves true!
