Blue Bloods begins tonight with Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) arriving to meet Mrs Davis who had an incident with her husband, Warren Davis (Danny Deferrari); whom she is separated from. She served him with divorce papers, causing him to come to her place; telling her there is no way she will be able to tear their family apart. Danny acknowledges her son, feeling it is tough on him also knowing Children’s Services assigned an investigative consultant who happens to be Danny’s grandfather, Henry Reagan (Len Cariou).
Eddie Reagan (Vanessa Ray) is with her partner when she spots a car that could have been involved in a double homicide in the Bronx that night, it belongs to Brandon Phelps (Bryan Fitzgerald) and they decide to pull his car over. Brandon is ordered out of the car when Eddie’s partner finds a vial of drugs in the back. He also discovers a revolver under his seat; the same caliber from the shootings.
Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck) sits with Sid Gormley (Robert Clohessy) and Garrett Moore (Gregory Jbara), who both inform him of a noise complaint from a restaurant that spilled out onto the streets, causing the neighbors to also call it in; the problem was the group was full of FDNY brass; something responding officers didn’t know when they took the call. Garrett defends the police, saying they were simply doing their job that somehow got Sam Roarke, the FDNY Commissioner arrested. Sid and Garrett insist their guys didn’t start this as Frank feels it was them who threw gasoline on it.
Erin Reagan (Bridget Moynahan) arrives at the Mayor Elect, Peter’s office where she offers him congratulations on the job. He says now that he has the job all his promises need to be true. He invited her up, saying he doesn’t like her boss’ idea where victims and accused criminals have equal rights but she reminds him they are protected under the law. He reveals the DA’s office doesn’t have the public’s trust and would like to support her run as DA. He will have Sam Terhune (Leroy McClain) call her, suggesting she hears him out and listen to his concerns. He is asking her to stay loyal to the DA’s office but not specifically to her boss as he is only sitting in that seat for now!
Danny didn’t even know that Pops worked with children services, but he says they needed the help and he has the time. Henry tells Danny that Warren is a decent guy, even though he just served 8 months in prison, while be hooked on pain pills. Danny gets the address, but Henry insists on going with him since he is working on the case just like Danny.
Anthony Abetemarco (Steve Schirripa) walks with Erin, talking about a case but realizes she hasn’t heard a word he said to her. She closes the door and tells Anthony about her meeting with Mayor elect Chase. She feels there is 100 reasons this is a bad idea, but he feels she would make a kick ass DA. She thinks the office will be turned upside down if she puts her hat in the ring. The boss will come after her with both barrels and will have everyone against her in the office; she wonders if she has what it takes to beat him and it’s the hard way!
Jamie Reagan (Will Estes) stops Eddie and her partner, complimenting them on their work earlier that morning. He says this collar may give them both a commendation if the murder rap sticks. Jamie asks Eddie what is wrong, but she tells him they got a bad guy; what coyuld possible be the matter?
Sam meets with Frank, saying he is going to pay for his guys coming to their racket simply to bust their balls. Frank defends the NYPD, saying they had every right to haul him in after he repeatedly poked one of the cops in the chest. Sam feels NYPD can’t handle that the FDNY get all the glory. Frank orders him to cut the crap and hands him a summons for harassment, but Sam assures him he hasn’t heard the last of them.
Henry sits with Warren as he speaks to Danny, who tells him that he had no right threatening his wife, Karen after she gave him the divorce papers. Warren explains he had the meltdown because he can’t live with losing his son,. Henry speaks to Danny and he agrees not to inform the parole officer but if it happens again he will. Danny talks to his grandfather, reminding him that he is a social worker and not a friend.
Jamie is reading the report of Brandon’s arrest, he feels something isn’t right with the vial of drugs in plain sight in the back seat. Eddie says she only saw her partner pull out the drugs and then the revolver from under the seat. Jamie asks her to imagine if it was him and her as partners, was there something else she would have seen. He reminds her that he may have to call IAB on this case; which frustrates her because it will jam her up and allow a perp to walk. Jamie insists he cannot look the other way on this.
Danny rushes to a scene where Warren is freaking out. He had just learned from his son that Karen was offered a job in LA. Se didn’t want him to fight out like that but Warren gets aggressive and the officers are forced to handcuff Warren in front of his son. Henry stays with Karen and her son while Warren is hauled away.
Danny confronts Warren who couldn’t leave things alone. Warren begs him to put himself in his place, as Karen wants to take his son across the country; Danny tells him he doesn’t know what as they would have to go to court and the judge would have to allow that. Warren feels as a convicted felon he wouldn’t get any kind of deal. Danny berates him, saying he definitely would deserve to be back in jail. Henry arrives with a desk ticket for Warren, something Danny is furious about Henry helping him as Henry explains he is not a perp, just someone trying to save his family. Danny warns him if he takes one step out of line, he will be there to bust his ass!
Frank sits with Sid, Garrett and Abigail Baker (Abigail Hawk) as they review what happened between the NYPD and the FDNY; conveniently finding out the same officer had a run in with the FDNY in a brawl at the ER a couple years prior. He coaches the kids but also plays in the NYPD hockey team and in 3 of the last 5 annual hockey games between the two, he has been ejected from the game for fighting. Sid and Garrett bicker but Frank reminds them that both sides messed up.
Erin sits with Sam Terhune who feels Peter would make a great DA but his research on her is there is a lot of positives but the unknown is how badly she wants it. He advises her that she could be buying into something that no one has had the chance to check out how Peter Chase will be as Mayor and it best she wait a while.
Eddie tells Jamie that IAB is investigating the Brandon Phelps collar; with him advising her to simply tell the truth. She doesn’t want to jam anybody up, having her partner’s back and Kenneth Troy is a good cop. Jamie says if he broke the law he needs to answer for that, the same as the alleged shooter they collared. She defends Troy but Jamie says Troy is worse than Phelps because he took an oath and broke the law and the same for anyone who covers for him.
Danny finds Warren who is outside Karen’s place, saying that Karen asked him to meet her there. Danny pats him down and arrests him but stops when he sees Henry walking down the sidewalk revealing that Warren had messaged him, saying Karen wanted to meed with him and Henry called Karen, who revealed it wasn’t true. Henry says it could have been a setup, causing Danny to pause. Danny releases Warren, telling Henry that if he kills his wife, it will be on his grandfather.
Blue Bloods Season 10 Episode 8 ‘Friends in High Places’ Recap Part 2
Frank finds out that the FDNY and the NYPD had another incident, using snide remarks but both sides were able to stop it before anything became physical but not before several cellphones were able to catch it on video. He feels the FDNY Commissioner, rightly so, has a chip on his shoulder because people instantly know the Police Commissioner’s name but have no idea who he is. Frank says they are going to do something this thing between them before it spills out onto the streets. Sid defends their guy but Frank says he has nothing for him, other than taking one for the team.
Eddie and Jamie argue over what Troy did. Jamie feels he is in the right for reporting it while Eddie says she repeated only what she saw and that was nothing. She feels like she is going to look like a rat and if Troy loses his shield over this, she is the one who will face the brunt of it from the guys at the precinct.
Erin comes to the house to see her father making Frank wonder if everything is alright; he already knows that she was propositioned for the position of DA. Erin wanted to come to him about it right away but felt this was a decision she had to make on her own. He respects that as she wanted this her whole life and it is past time Manhattan had a female DA. He reminds her that this will definitely turn up the heat when it comes to the rest of the family. She understands the scrutiny will go through the roof if she runs for public office, even though the family is used to being in the public eye; this will be a whole new level of publicity for all of them.
Everyone at family dinner is thrilled for Erin, although she admits she hasn’t made a final decision. She reminds them it will be a complicated decision for all of them, with folks poking their noses where it doesn’t belong; not just the press but the opposition who will dig deep and investigate everything that everyone does that can surface out of nowhere. She wants to know if they are all on board and if there is anything they need her to know before she takes on the job. Everyone says their issues but Danny reminds them that he may have stepped over the line while he was on the job once or twice. Henry chooses to take the fifth. Frank says if these are the only skeletons in the closet than she is good to go as Erin thanks everyone.
Henry is still furious with Danny, who finally confronts Pops on his attitude and why he has become such a bleeding heart. Henry says domestic violence cases have to be dealt with cautiously. Henry feels if Warren goes back to jail it could do some real damage to his son. Henry wishes he kept his glory day stories away from Danny because of the way they affected him; both choose to ride solo on the Davis case from here on out.
Karen arrives at the precinct, visibly upset. She reveals that she came to pick up Andrew from soccer practice but the coach revealed that Warren had already picked him up; obviously unaware of the order of protection. He has another officer take her complaint as he goes to search for Warren. Henry hears, saying if Danny didn’t treat him like a perp, Warren wouldn’t act like one. Henry knows where they are, but reminds Danny that he said they were going to do this solo; Danny offers to drive.
Sam questions Erin about anything and everything; reminding her she cannot prevent surprises, she can only anticipate them. He warns her that with the business her family is in, there is definitely things that will pop up. Sam feels she is looking for an excuse to not run for the position.
Troy comes to see Jamie, saying the IAB is just part of the job. He walks with him, telling Troy he doesn’t know when to hang it up and he doesn’t seem like that kind of guy. Jamie says he has seen many seasoned cops who have planted evidence just to land a perp and jamming up their partners in the process. Jamie says anyone could have looked at the collar, they will notice something is off and both him and Eddie would be to blame; but he feels everything is justified because Phelps killed at least 2 people. Jamie tells him that doesn’t justify what he did and IAB is going to take his shield for it, but the other way out is him putting his papers. He refuses as Jamie explains then IAB will take his shield and he won’t get pension, losing his reputation with it. Troy is given enough time to get to the door to make up his mind but agrees to put his papers in by the end of the day.
At Madison Square Gardens, Warren is watching a hockey game with his son, Andrew. Danny admits Henry was right with all his touchy feely stuff and calls Karen to let her know they are okay. Henry reminds Danny that sometimes there is no bad guy, so Danny apologizes. He is forced to buy hotdogs, beer and more food for Henry as an apology.
Eddie comes home, informing Jamie that Troy put in his papers, but she wants to know how he did it. Jamie says he laid out the facts and left Troy to make the final decision. She knows it was a tough choice all the way around. She knows that he only did what he thought was right, but he feels that wasn’t good enough when it comes to her. He is sorry he messed up but she says in the end, he had her back like he always does. She never doubted that she came first to him and hugs him tightly.
Mayor Elect Chase comes to see Erin, after he saw the DA who says he is not a politician. He shares a family photo, informing her that his interest in her is nothing more than colleagues as he is happily married with two children. He knows it is important to get that out in the open and she believes him. She doesn’t have a decision and he doesn’t have a deadline. She reveals that she knows he is playing two other people for the DA position. He likes her the best for the role and says the people he believes in he doesn’t pave the way; he will put as many obstacles in her way to see if she can hack it.
The FDNY Commissioner is having a celebration, hoping the judge will go easy on him. Frank and the NYPD arrive as Frank apologizes for crashing the party, and introduces him to Officer Bruce Cirelli, someone he knows well. The officer asks him to accept his apology for over reacting and Frank informs him that the NYPD is dropping the charges and he can ignore the summons; sorry that he felt disrespected by the NYPD. Sid presents him with a birthday card that has Frank’s personal number for him to call at any time. He jokes for him not to share the number with all his men as he doesn’t want to get woken up 10 times a night; the two commissioners shake hands in laughter.
