Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers tease that the Salem mayoral election is really heating up. Abe Carver (James Reynolds) has run a clean campaign, during which he focused on the issues and ran on his remarkable record. But he hit a snag when Jack Deveraux (Matthew Ashford) and Eve Deveraux (Kassie DePaiva) accused him of having an inappropriate relationship with his assistant, Sheila Watkins (Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins).
Abe was horrified to see a photo of Sheila kissing him displayed at the last mayoral debate for all to see. Of course, there was a perfectly good explanation for the photo and the kiss, but nobody wanted to hear Abe’s excuses and it just looked bad for Abe’s campaign.
But Abe’s not the only one who ended up looking bad. After the debate, a distressed JJ Deveraux (Casey Moss) announced to the press in frustration that Jack is the only candidate who had ever forced himself on a woman, and the press was quick to find out that Jack raped Kayla Johnson (Mary Beth Evans) back in 1988.
With serious blemishes on both Abe and Jack’s records now made very public, what will voters do? How will they choose between a candidate whom they believe had an inappropriate relationship with his assistant and one who has a history of sexual assault? Well, maybe they won’t have to choose!
According to Days of Our Lives spoilers, there may be another choice for voters. DOOL viewers will remember that at one point there was another candidate running for mayor…Melinda Trask (Laura Kai Chen). She dropped out of the race after Jack revealed that her sister Haley Chen (Thia Megia) was an undocumented immigrant, but could she get back in the race?
Of course, it’s entirely possible that Melinda’s name is still on the ballot, and voters could choose her as an alternative to Jack and Abe. Or, if her name isn’t already on the ballot, she could appeal to one of the parties to have her name put on in place of either Jack or Abe. Days of Our Lives spoilers say that Melinda will make some sort of last-minute move, so it certainly sounds like she’ll be an option for voters.
It would be a real comeback for Melinda if she were able to pull this off – and it would certainly serve Jack right for everything he did to sabotage and undermine Melinda earlier in the campaign. But of course, for Abe, it would mean that he’d lose, but at least he wouldn’t be losing to Jack, so that might be some consolation.
