Tonight on Emergence, Jo is keeping a watchful eye on Piper after the update works on her, but she seems shaken up not understanding how it’s possible. Benny and Jo go over to Emily to seek answers saying Kindred knows what she has done, Jo asked about Piper and what she is, Emily reveals she is AI(robot) and that Piper doesn’t know she isn’t real, Emily is scared that Kindred is coming after her and wants to flee.
Benny reveals that he stole a hard drive out of Emily’s suitcase as she was packing, he insists to Jo that she tell Piper she is a robot but Jo fears the outcome, Benny urges her stating they don’t know if Piper is dangerous or not and should proceed with caution as if she is.
As Jo is leaving for work she discovers she is being photographed by a mystery woman in a car, who Jo approaches with her gun and demands she identify herself and she does as a worker for children services, she tells Jo that she needs to adopt Piper the legal way and do the process by the books, just as the two women are talking Kindred calls Jo on the phone telling her he’s sent a car to pick her up so they can talk more about Piper.
Jo meets up with Kindred instead of answering questions he tries to get Jo to turn piper over, Jo gets up and leaves realizing Kindred just lured her to threaten her. The child services worker is at Jo’s home asking Ed questions about Jo past and begins to talk to Piper asking her questions and Piper insists that she wants to stay with Jo and becomes upset causing her to blow up the workers phone while she is holding it, and the worker is clueless to what causes the explosion.
Emily goes to the precinct to retrieve the hard drive Benny has taken from her stating it was her insurance policy and Kindred didn’t want anyone to know what was on it, Jo tells her they can find out together what’s on it, Jo and Chris decide to hide Emily at a safe place.
Back home Jo questions Piper about what happens to the worker’s phone and she apologizes for what has happened and asked Jo not to be upset. Later on, Piper is seen leaving the house with her backpack and takes off her chain places it on the table and heads out the door, Mia sees her but doesn’t go after her.
Evans tells Jo he figures out what the radio intercepts were and it’s a location on a map, Jo decides to go there saying she this that’s where piper was headed, she and Benny head to the location which turns out to be a runway to a town she thinks is where Piper resided.
Mia goes outside to find Piper sitting on a bench and takes her to Evans. Chris has taken Emily to her new hideout location at a lake house with no cell phone service and just nature, she is unhappy but he insists she’ll be safe there and he will stay with her.
Benny and Jo enter one of the homes in the town, Benny’s friend April who he has helped him decide the hard drive sends him a video of one of the files on the drive and it’s of Piper destroying a room after she blows out a close telling two adults that she wants to leave and they tell her no.
Benny tells Jo that he fears for her family and safety when she has enough evidence showing what Piper is capable of and is dangerous. Jo heads over to Evans to pick up Piper while in the car Jo asks Piper if she remembers anything from before the crash and she tells her not much, Piper suddenly screams out to Jo to stop the car she runs out in the middle of the road Jo follows behind asking what she is doing and Piper picks up a turtle that was in the middle of the road and brings it back to safety, this gesture reassures Jo that Piper does have some good in her despite her being a robot with powers and she decides to take her in.
Benny and April are sitting in his car and April are pleading with Benny to leave the case alone and a man walks up to the car shooting at in, in the end, scene Benny quickly puts the car in reverse and slams into oncoming traffic and a car hits the two.
