Tonight on FOX their blockbuster drama Empire airs with an all-new Wednesday, May 1, 2019, episode and we have your Empire recap below. Meanwhile, Andre helps Empire by getting help from the last person the Lyons expects and Cookie may never forgive Lucious for what he’s done..”

Andre still wants to take his own life. He’s been through so much that not even a new heart was possible now and so Andre was done. He wanted to die and he wanted his father to be there with him. Andre said he couldn’t do it alone. He wanted his father to be there when it happens and he wants it to happen soon. Andre said he wanted to do it that night. He begged his father to agree with his plan and Lucious said he needed time. He didn’t want to his son to do anything until he had a chance to check with doctors and see about getting Andre a new heart, but Andre did his research. He knew he would be the bottom of any donor list and nevermind that the doctors wouldn’t want to operate because he had been left so frail after chemo.
Lucious went for a drive to clear his head, but Andre wasn’t going to wait around. He had already written letters for his brothers and his mother. He was going to use some quality time to break it to Teri and he never got that chance because he thought he could tell her at the skating rink. He didn’t know she was pregnant and she didn’t want to tell him until she talked to her doctors. She’s had problems in the past and so she just wants to make sure she could carry this pregnancy to term. Teri told Cookie her fears and Cookie helped cover for her with Andre. Andre planned on spending his last day with his girl and he had to spend it with his mom. They went to the skating rink together and had fun.
Lucious came back to an empty house. There had been no one there to help him after he got into a car accident and so he was cleaning his own wounds when he began to hallucinate. He saw Bunky. Bunky said he took time away from the angels and they both laughed about that because they both knew Bunky was in hell. Then Bunky got serious. He said that he came because he heard about Andre and that the man deserved to have whatever he wanted. It was Andre that stepped up to take care of his brothers when his mother was locked up and his dad was on the road all the time. Andre never complained and he did his duty. He was there for his family and he helped his father create Empire.
Bunky thought Andre deserved whatever he wanted and he went away because Lucious was never going to help his son die, but he went to his hospital and that’s where he saw Shine. Shine didn’t think Lucious was strong enough to be there for Andre. Andre tried to kill his own dad and almost succeeded and still, Lucious didn’t do anything. Lucious was called everything from weak to a sucker. He didn’t even kill Shine and had to get someone else to do it. This was all a hallucination of course and part of Lucious was aware of this even as he argued with a ghost. He said he didn’t pull the trigger because Shine hadn’t been worth it and unfortunately things didn’t end with Shine. Lucious also saw his father.
His dad was still calling him Dwight and Lucious didn’t know how to explain his change in name, but his father put everything into perspective. He asked Lucious if he remembered when he died and Lucious did. He saw everything. It had been quick for his father and he didn’t have to bleed out on that floor. He didn’t have to beg his own to put him out of his suffering and that’s because Lucious was his child. He loved as children do by believing in fairness and what’s right. Things were different now and his father told him that he needed to love Andre like a man he is. Andre was something that Lucious got right and it wasn’t until his father hugged him and told him that he was going to be okay that Lucious saw it that way.
Lucious later woke up in his car and it turns out the whole thing had been a hallucination. He hadn’t gotten out of the car and he found that everyone was trying to reach him. Lucious was called because Empire was in trouble. Their checks were bouncing because Conway froze their accounts and Patel wasn’t willing to help them out again. The man had been in the building when rumors of the company being broke got out and so Patel went back to Silicone Valley while Becky and Giselle tried to figure out what to do. They called Lucious and they called Cookie, but Cookie got pulled in for questioning by Conway. She was asked about her relationship with Damon Cross and if he was behind their recent funding.
Conway tried to throw everything at Cookie which included the theory she had an affair with Damon, but Cookie knew she had nothing and she got left there quickly enough. She and Lucious also didn’t have to fix the Empire problem. Andre fixed it with Becky and Giselle’s help. They put together a concert with ticket sales going to the Trust Tour and they drew the crowds in by showcasing Empire artists singing duets with unsigned artists. They had also needed a quick loan and they couldn’t turn to Patel this time. So Andre contacted his brother Kingsley because he wanted help to getting Patel’s event and Kingsley didn’t want to be around the people that were still laughing at his failure with Empire. And so he gave his brother something even better.
Kingsley gave his brother ten million dollars and he gave him a lead on other investors. Its what made it possible for the Empire to survive while they wait for the feds to release their accounts. Andre told his family that he couldn’t go to the afterparty because he wanted to handle the paperwork and ensure that the investors didn’t lose out, but his father knew he was using it as an excuse to be alone. Andre told everyone in his family that he loves them and he prayed with them one last time before he and Lucious left together. Lucious wanted one last dinner with Andre and they talked while Cookie made it home to find her letter. The one Andre left her because he thought that by the time she read he would be dead.
Only she read the letter a little earlier than he planned and she knew she had to stop her son. Andre was about to become a father. Teri heard back from her doctor and she was carrying a healthy baby boy. She was waiting to break the news to Andre tomorrow when they were alone, but Cookie felt if Andre knew now that it would stop him and so she raced to his hotel. She got into his room and she told him that he was going to be a father. And she also knocked the pills out of his hands.
And it still might be too late because Andre had a seizure which might just kill him on its own.
