General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) may soon return to some tragic news about her son, Peter August (Wes Ramsey). As GH viewers know, Anna has been off canvas for the past several months, as Finola Hughes took a break from the show. But she’ll be back on screen in December and, from the looks of things, she might return home to some terrible news about Peter.
As GH viewers know, it’s recently been revealed that Peter was involved in abducting Drew Cain (Billy Miller) from Afghanistan back in the day, in connection with Helena Cassadine (Constance Towers), and that he knew all about the ordeal that both Drew and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) went through. Peter thought that he’d get away with no one knowing about his involvement until Shiloh Archer (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) came along and threatened to sing about Peter’s misdeeds.
And that has led Peter on a terrible journey. He’s been doing everything in his power to cover up his involvement in abducting Drew, including hiring an assassin to bust Shiloh out of custody. That plan then blew up in his face, as the assassin wound up being caught by the PCPD and threatened to divulge Peter’s involvement in Shiloh’s escape. Now Peter has the assassin pointing the finger at Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) to deflect attention from himself. It’s a real mess.
Fortunately for Sam, she and Jason are onto Peter. They don’t yet know exactly how Peter is connected to Shiloh, nor that Peter was involved in Drew’s capture in Afghanistan, but they’re definitely on the right track and now that Sam has been implicated in Shiloh’s escape, you can bet that Jason and Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) will soon get to the bottom of what’s going on with Peter.
Of course, that will probably take some time, and that means that the big reveal with Peter’s evil side coming out could happen right about the time that Anna returns to Port Charles. There’s been a lot of buzz lately about how Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) will react when she finds out about Peter’s bad side, but Anna’s going to be devastated, too. She might just return to Port Charles to find out that her son really is the monster that Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) has always claimed that he is.
Of course, Anna might have some news to impart at that point as well. She’s suspected for a while now that Peter may not actually be her son, and may in fact be Alex Devane’s (Finola Hughes) son. But thus far, Anna hasn’t cared to find out the truth – she loves Peter and considers him her son no matter what. But what happens when she finds out that Peter was responsible for Drew’s kidnapping and has gone to all these lengths to cover it up?
Perhaps Anna would disavow Peter at that point and finally reveal that she’s not his mother. At any rate, it looks like Peter’s actions are likely going to cost him not only Maxie, but his relationship with Anna as well. It should be interesting to see what happens when Anna returns – she may get a bombshell dropped on her about Peter, but she might just turn right around and drop her own bombshell back!
