General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that several ABC soap stars just faced a tough goodbye. On Twitter, Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) posted a fun photo with someone very special to the cast and crew. Her name is Bertha and she’s been a staple at General Hospital for many years. In fact, McCoy shared that her first memory at GH involved this friendly team member.
“This beautiful lady is with GH Security,” McCoy said. “Hers was the very 1st face I saw when I came for my 1st audition and I will never forget her kind face. She retires today and we will miss her dearly. Much love and happiness always Bertha.”
It didn’t take long for other General Hospital stars to chime in. William Lipton (Cameron Webber), who was also featured in the pic, took a moment to send Bertha some well wishes. He tweeted, “Bye Bertha! We hope you enjoy your retirement. We will miss your beautiful smile at GH.”
Several other GH cast members commented under McCoy’s original tweet. Nicholas Bechtel (Spencer Cassadine) called Bertha “the sweetest lady ever.” Drew Cheetwood (Milo Giambetti) echoed that idea. “Bertha is the sweetest! Nothin but love & light from her always. I wish her the best in retirement,” Cheetwood said.
Brooklyn Rae Silzer (Emma Scorpio-Drake) doesn’t appear on GH much these days, but she’s always enjoyed seeing Bertha during her stints. She gushed, “Oh man we love her! Please give her hugs from us.” Marc Anthony Samuel agreed that “Bertha is the best!” It’s clear that Bertha touched many lives during her lengthy career on General Hospital.
Before Bertha headed home to begin her retirement, she got a sweet parting gift. Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) mentioned it in her reply to McCoy’s tweet and assured everyone that Bertha was pleased. “We gave Bertha a lovely gift certificate today,” Grahn said. “She left happy.”
Goodbyes are always tough, but Bertha must be thrilled to know how much she’s loved and will be missed at the studio. On the bright side, Bertha can enjoy a well-deserved break! She made a lasting impact and she can carry the memories she’s made with her forever.
