A category four hurricane is affecting the Grand Hotel in Miami Beach. Sky, a chef at the hotel, is called to privately talk to her boss, Gigi. Gigi tells her she needs to give it back. Sky wants her to say what she wants back. She reminds her boss not to threaten her. She could, after all, expose her husband Santiago and what he did.
Meanwhile, Santiago entertains those at the hotel trying to keep them calm during the storm with music and dancing.
Sky runs through the stairwells trying to escape the footsteps after her. She runs outside in the storm. Someone knocks her out and drags her across the ground.
The next day, Santiago and Gigi talk about their kids all flying in for a wedding. In the hotel, several floors down, Danny is interviewed for a waiter position. He gets the job.
Santiago meets his daughter Alicia in the front lobby. She just graduated from Cornell with a business degree. He hugs here after the staff goes crazy doting over her. She asks about the storm. He tells her they had little damage. She asks about the missing girl but he quickly sweeps it under the rug. She asks where her brother Javier is. Just inside, her brother is trying to get rid of one of the guests he had a one night stand with.
The entire blended family gets together for a luncheon to celebrate the marriage of Gigi’s daughter. At the get-together Santiago’s children learn he sold the hotel. Alicia and Javier pull their dad aside to tell him how upset they are. Gigi intervenes and tells them to come back to the table.
Danny bumps into a rapper with a tray of drinks staying at the hotel on his first day.
Alicia asks her dad’s business associate why he is selling and if he sees how weird her dad is acting. He shrugs it all off including the questions she has about the missing girl. Meanwhile, Javier is hooking up with another guest. When she asks to see his amputated limb after he takes his prosthetic leg off he freaks and tells her to get out.
Ingrid a maid at the hotel is reprimanded for vacuuming the same spot of the rug. Jason consoles her in an empty room. She shares she is pregnant and it is complicated.
Alicia questions her dad about what will happen to the staff. He tells her they will all move on and be fine. Meanwhile, Danny has ended his first day. He gets invited for drinks but turns Danny down. On his way out he sees a woman in the pool floating face down. He rushes to save her. It’s Alicia. She was just floating to relax, she snaps at him. He stays in the pool and swims. They get to talking. He loves how beautiful it is at night here. She talks about the hotel’s history. It gives her an idea. She gets out and gets dressed. She tells him she wants to see him again. She’ll find him. She rushes to the rapper’s room who is staying at the hotel. Inside, she finds her stepsister, who is about to get married, in a towel.
The next morning, Alicia tells Javier about their step-sister. He wants to expose her. Danny comes to their table. She didn’t know he was part of the staff. The hiring manager Helen sees them talking and gets upset. Meanwhile, Ingrid tells Santiago’s business manager Mateo she is pregnant with their baby. He assumes she will get rid of the baby. She doesn’t say otherwise with tears in her eyes.
Gigi gives Alicia a necklace, one that matched her mother’s. She tells Alicia how much she misses her mother too. When Gigi thinks Alicia is gone she calms her daughter down, telling her Alicia isn’t going to talk to anyone about what she knows.
At the wedding, Alicia lets Gigi know she heard what she said before the groom announces that his bride to be cheated on him with the rapper ElRay the night before. A fight breaks out. Javier loves that his sister ratted out their evil step sister. Later, Alicia tells her dad she is sorry she couldn’t let it all go. They discuss the hotel sale. He tells her they are in debt to someone but won’t tell her who.
That night, Gigi tells Santiago if they need to make cuts they should drop Javier. He doesn’t do anything. Santiago tells her he cannot. He is responsible for his son’s leg and he never told her. Ingrid overhears. She heads to see Javier. She tells him she is pregnant. He doesn’t remember sleeping with her.
Helen calls Danny in. She tells him she is watching him. Meanwhile, Santiago visits with Mateo. He tells him he needs more time. Mateo can give him that.
Alicia finds Danny to thank him for the help the other night. But she cannot hang out with him. He is staff after all. Danny understands. He takes a call after she leaves, telling the caller that he will figure out what happened to his sister and make that person pay.
