Grand Hotel begins tonight with Mendoza (Bryan Craig) being rushed to the hospital after the collapse at the hotel; his father Santiago Mendoza (Demian Bichir) travels with him in the ambulance. Santiago promises that he will be right at Javi’s side as he recalls how Javi lost his leg years earlier. Meanwhile, Danny Garibaldi (Lincoln Younes) rushes into the hotel to find Alicia Mendoza (Denyse Tontz), hugging her out of relief that she wasn’t hurt. She wants to get to the hospital but her and Oliver (Freddie Stroma) broke up; she agrees to Danny helping her.
Mateo (Shalim Ortiz) busts into Ingrid’s (Anne Winters) room, informing the nurse that he is the baby’s father. Ingrid smiles as the doctor offers to get her discharge papers in order. Ingrid wants to know if Javi is okay. Mateo is confronted by Santiago, who is told this is exactly what he wanted; they are interrupted by Gigi Mendoza (Roselyn Sanchez) who suggests it going to be a long night and they need to focus on Javi. Ingrid arrives and Gigi attempts to reassure both of them that Javi will be okay; causing Santiago to recall when Gigi arrived to cheer up Javi for his senior season of baseball; assuring him that his mother will still be watching him. She blesses him with his mother’s blessing, telling him to get his things for the game. Javi leaves and Gigi insists that Santiago needs to tell his kids ab0out them, but it is too late as Javi returns, spotting the two kissing.
Linda introduces Justin (Joe Adler) as a social media influencer with over 4 million followers, but when he is given a free stay at the hotel, he learns el Rey (Jencarlos Canela won’t be performing and makes a video with horrible reviews for the hotel. He is quickly told they will find him some entertainment to appease him and his followers.
At the bar, Jason Parker (Chris Warren) talking to Danny about what the girls had told him about Sky Garibaldi (Arielle Kebbel) dealing drugs; suggesting Danny speak to Topher, saying if anyone wants anything he is the one who gets it, no questions asked.
Santiago and Gigi are informed that Javi escaped with only a broken collar bone and a concussion. He’ll need to wear a sling for a few weeks but they will be discharging him tonight. They are told Javi’s tox screen shows that his opioids are through the roof, revealing to them that Javi is an addict. Yoli (Justina Adorno) and Carolina (Feliz Ramirez) arrive at the dumpy motel, knock on #14, where they greet their father.
Alicia and Santiago walk into Javi’s room, where Ingrid is starting to pamper him but Santiago confronts him about his problem with pain killers. Javi says it was Spring Break and this was a one time deal, ever since Ingrid told him about the baby he has been out of sorts. Alicia is told to get Javi some clothes from him, leaving the two men alone. Javi reminds him that he stopped taking the pills ten years ago right after he lost his leg. Santiago doesn’t believe him, but they go back to the past when Santiago tells Javi about a scout coming to the game today; Javi expected more from him, but nothing comes. At the game, Javi shoves his father and Gigi away, but in present-day Javi continues to insist there isn’t a problem.
Outside the hospital, Ingrid stops Alicia who says Javi will be fine, no thanks to her. She blames his near-death on Ingrid and Alicia doesn’t correct it. Gigi walks into Hellen Parker’s (Wendy Raquel Robinson) office, wanting her opinion on Mateo. Helen explains that Santiago keeps Mateo around, they holler and fight but that is just the way they are. Helen refuses to help her about the Mateo getting Ingrid pregnant situation, changing the subject about Malcolm beginning his chemo and how Justin is taking all her time trying to find some quality entertainment for him.
Danny observes Topher as he greets guests; but once everyone is gone, he questions him about Sky dealing drugs. He is forced to give Topher all the money he has to get information. Topher explains how Sky owed money back home to whom he believes was her brother. Topher admits he wasn’t working with her, she wanted to get out as one of her regulars was threatening to get her fired if she didn’t supply. He reveals she was dealing to the boss’ son.
Alicia is getting clothes for Javi but finds bottle after bottle of pain meds. Yoli confronts her father about stealing all the money but he insists he had to run because a lot of rich powerful people wanted to put him away for the rest of his life. He really felt he didn’t have a choice but to bail on his daughters and wife. He says he wouldn’t live in a roach motel if he stole millions of dollars, but even their mother believes he did it.
Jason spots Malcolm revealing he has something to help his father with the side effects of the chemo. He gave him edibles, promising Topher said they are strong and will make him feel good. Meanwhile, it is obvious that Helen ate the cookie with the drugs in it, smiling at her hand and having the giggles in the elevator. She sneaks up on Justin who is about to get a massage, saying she has tickets to a Miami Heat game but Justin pouts saying he wanted concert tickets. He is horrified that he is naked and she can’t stop laughing at him as he shouts for her to get out.
Danny returns to the locker room, where he reveals to Jason that Sky was selling drugs to Javi; both wondering if it is possible that Javi did anything to Sky as he isn’t a violent person, but both remember Javi taking a swing at Sky before. Danny doesn’t want to be on this track as Alicia broke up with Oliver and if they want to be together, how can they get past this. Jason says they cannot drop this as they need to know the truth; whether they like it or not.
The family doctor comes to see Santiago and Alicia, saying they need to get Javi into rehab as he needs to medically detox. Alicia finds out this isn’t the first time Javi became addicted to drugs, causing her to be upset that they never told her. Santiago says they will drag him by his hair if they have to, but Javi is going.
Gigi finds Jason in the office, demanding to know where his mother is as she just saw Justin’s posting about her walking into his massage where he was naked. Jason panics, telling Gigi they need to find his mother immediately when he learns Helen ate all the cookies. Helen, in the meantime, is at the bar with Justin saying she’s got his concert right there telling the bartender to “hit it”. She hits the remote and begins signing and sprawling across the bar. Jason and Gigi rush in and escort a very high Helen out of the lounge.
Javi returns home with his father and sister; learning that his sister found all his pills. Santiago tells him there are no more pills and he is going to rehab. Alicia tries to talk to him but he becomes very agitated, causing Santiago to intervene and tell him there is a car waiting for him downstairs to take him. Alicia leaves the room, Santiago locking the door, saying him and Javi will stay locked in the room until the junk is out of his system. Javi laughs saying he can do it on his own, but Santiago tells him to prove it!
Carolina sits with her dad, telling him all about going to community college. Yoli is asked what is new in her life but she is very critical of her father, even though he admits he wasn’t surprised to learn she has a girlfriend since she always had crushes on her female teachers. Yoli says maybe if he had been around, coming out wouldn’t have been total hell. He insists he is trying, even though he had made mistakes. Yoli says her dad was always her person, so when he left, she had no one. He feels the same, but their conversation is interrupted by the FBI at the door. Their father hides and both women deny seeing him. Once back in the room, he says he is going to disappear in the morning, but Yoli suggests him upgrading to a nicer hotel.
Gigi asks Mateo to help keep Justin happy and doesn’t know how to do that without El Rey. He offers to get him to the music awards but doesn’t know why Helen didn’t approach him sooner. Jason stops Ingrid who is waiting for his mom, explaining that she isn’t feeling well. Ingrid says she is fine but explains that Helen offered her old job back. She reveals to Jason that Javi was never the father. She says she spent the night in his room, furious that Javi has everything and doesn’t even appreciate it; that is how she came up with the lie. At the time she never knew he was a really good guy, causing Jason to leave her, asking her what is wrong with her.
Danny brings room service to Alicia’s room, wanting to know how Javi is. She reveals Javi’s drug addiction and how he lashed out at her for tossing out his stash. She said he didn’t hurt her but his reaction was shocking and made him into a different person. Alicia shows Danny all the pills, with him suggesting to get rid of them. She forgot how easy it was to talk to him, as he takes the bag and quickly leaves her room; he looks at the bottles and they all have Sky Garibaldi on the labels.
Javi plays chess with his dad, suggesting they order up room service. Javi insists he is feeling good but attempts to escape when Santiago is on the phone. Santiago pushes him away, saying there is no way he is walking out the door. Santiago recalls a moment when Javi came home from baseball after driving drunk. Javi tells him he saw his dad and Gigi together that morning. He apologizes as Javi says Gigi is a gold digger, throwing it in his face that they were probably not even waiting until his mother died to have sex. Javi blurts out that he is pissed about his mother dying and it should have been him. He tells Santiago he hates him and he is a joke. Santiago throws the keys at Javi but it is too late.
Gigi checks on Helen, Jason admitting she is coming down from outer space. Jason goes to be with his father as Gigi reveals that Mateo took care of Justin. She tricks Helen into talking about the issues between Mateo and her husband. She reveals that she cannot believe Santiago borrowed all the money from those dangerous people and Mateo is in on it; part of the deal. Helen is thrilled they can finally talk about this because she was about to burst. Gigi demands to hear more.
Javi threatens to call the police on his father for keeping him prisoner. He is okay with that, as long as Javi is still alive. Javi feels Santiago is ashamed of his son, talking about how he was always told to put pants on as people can see him. Santiago says what happened to Javi was his fault; the night of the accident because he threw him those keys, not realizing how drunk he was. Javi doesn’t remember the night as his dad recants what happened; he says everything would have been different. He is ashamed of himself, not his son!
Alicia stops Ingrid, apologizing for the way she treated her. Ingrid wishes she could go back in time and undo it all, spotting Mateo she admits she cares about Javi. Ingrid grabs her belly, saying something is wrong with the baby and Mateo rushes to her side.
Jason finds Danny in the change room. Danny explains where he got the pills and how Alicia said Javi was a different person on the drugs. He isn’t so sure now if Javi did something to his sister when he was high during the hurricane. Jason says Javi was passed out during the hurricane, as per what Ingrid told him. Danny says he could kiss him from relief as he can finally be with Alicia; Jason stops him, saying unless someone else in their family becomes a suspect. Danny refuses to lose Alicia again.
At the hospital, Mateo watches from the doorway as Ingrid cries. When he asks about the baby, he apologizes as she says it was probably the stress from the balcony collapse. He insists she doesn’t deserve this and if he can make it right he would. She looks up at his questioning.
Javi wakes up to see his dad in the chair, joking that he looks like crap; but Santiago is happy to hear the Javi he knows. Javi takes responsibility for driving drunk but his father says he was just a kid and it was his responsibility to keep him safe. Javi is ready to go to rehab but worries he can’t do it. Santiago r4ecalls when Javi was learning to walk and how he encouraged him to do it, with his faith in his son; hugging him each step of the way. Santiago puts his arms around Javi, saying he can do anything as he is stronger than he thinks. Javi breaks down in his dad’s arms.
Helen is watching her performance on the bar when Malcolm mocks her about never singing like that for him. She says she will kill Jason for bringing in those “demon” cookies into her office. Malcolm jokes, asking when is the last time she laughed like that. They solemnly remember it was before he found out about cancer; Malcolm suggests that maybe she needed those cookies more than he did.
Santiago returns home where Gigi says they need to talk. He admits he is exhausted, saying he dropped off Javi at the rehab center. She is glad he is getting help as he hopes things will get better as the two of them were able to have a candid and honest conversation. Gigi reminds him that honesty is important, but says their talk can wait. She walks out of the room, leaving Santiago puzzled.
Yoli and Carolina help their dad pack up what little he has; he tells them to load things in the car and to text him when the coast is clear. He watches them from the window before knocking on Bill’s (Kevin D’Arcy) door, giving him cash, saying he even had him convinced for a moment that he was FBI. Yoli suggests he lay down in the back seat so no one will see him, he hugs them feeling he won the con.
Danny returns Alicia’s outfit, asking about Javi. She admits he is off to rehab while he offers his shoulder for her to talk. She feels him being nice to her is driving her crazy; wanting to know what this is all about. She is frustrated but he approaches her, saying he is an idiot and has been falling for her since the first moment he laid eyes on her. He admits his life is complicated but he doesn’t care anymore; the two kiss, tearing each other’s clothes off and ending up in bed together.
