A group of doctors and nurses are performing surgery when the patient begins to move. The surgeon calls 911. The patient is rushed to Chastain from the outpatient spine clinic. Kit looks at her and orders a scan. Meanwhile, Cain and Conrad make their way to the ED to look at a real princess. She tells them she was out running in the park when the ground beneath her feet just seemed to disappear. Cain, Conrad, and Devon all talk alone about her dizzy spells and recent headaches.

Mina is with her best friend at her ultrasound. Mina’s friend begins to cough. They listen to her heart sounds, something sounds atypical. She will have to go for more tests.

Bell meets with Cain and Kim who informs him that a former prisoner that was treated at the hospital issuing. After Cain and Kim leave the room they talk to one another, this is the perfect way for them to get rid of Conrad and possibly Bell.

Inside the conference room, Conrad speaks on his own behalf in front of the prisoner and his lawyers. Bell is present. They accuse Conrad of not supplying the proper standard of care and stopping the prisoner’s morphine.

After the meeting, Nic and Conrad talk. Conrad admits to her that he did stop the morphine in order to get Spiro to make a confession. Devon is the only other one that knows.

AJ arrives to speak with Mina and her best friend and another doctor. She has cardiomyopathy and due to the pregnancy, the strain could send her into congestive heart failure. She does have the option of delivering early but that could put the baby at risk for respiratory issues. Mina’s friend tells the room that she would like to carry her baby to term.

Back in the conference room, the lawyers are discussing Conrad’s case. Bell notices that the lawyers for Chastain hired by Kim are barely doing their job. After they leave the conference, Bell accuses Kim of trying to get rid of Conrad by supporting him poorly. Kim admits that Conrad is a whistleblower due to the dialysis med trials and his father is very powerful. This is the way they’re going to get rid of him because one day he will turn against the hospital. Kim then threatens Bell to keep his mouth shut or he’ll be next.

Bell tells Kit about his problems with Kim and Conrad’s case. She urges him to call out Kim but Bell is too scared to lose his job.

Several of Conrad’s peers are called in to testify on his behalf about his character. Not a single one of them says anything bad, upsetting Spiro’s lawyers.

Devon and Conrad are rushed to the room of Princess Nadine who has begun choking and coughing. She cannot breathe. They don’t know what is going on but they give her furosemide until they can figure it out. After they leave the room Devon confronts Conrad about the Spiro case. Conrad does not feel guilty for torturing the man, he is a murderer. Devon still sees it otherwise, as they are both doctors and took an oath.

Mina‘s friend is given a regimen of medication to sustain her heart. Mina is not happy about this but tries to be supportive and honest if she wants to try to carry her baby to full-term.

Devon is with princess Nadine when she forgets the word for juice. He takes her to get a scan right away. Cain looks over her imaging. It looks like she suffers from cerebral perfusion issues and needs to go in for bypass surgery to avoid strokes in her later years.

Kyle is spending time with the spinal patient. He shares his former addiction issues with her while she shares her problem with smoking.

The team is in the OR in the observation booth watching as Cain performs surgery on princess Nadine.

Bell becomes desperate and tells Kim to talk to Devon who he recently learned may not be a loyal fan of Conrad’s. Just as Bell goes to get Devon out of the observation booth, Cain has trouble during his surgery as princess Nadine‘s intracranial pressure begins to increase with her brain pushing against her skull. Bell and AJ step into surgery to take over. They save the day by cutting her abdomen and taking out a small piece of tissue, then laying it on top of her brain to motivate perfusion. Before Conrad leaves the observation booth Devon tells him he is sorry.

AJ and Mina take a few minutes, watching her friend in the rectory, as they talk about how Mina needs to support her friend no matter her choice. Meanwhile, Nic and Conrad talk about what Devon will do. Nic thinks he needs to be loyal to Conrad while Conrad thinks that Devon needs to make his own choice.

During his deposition, Devon defends Conrad by telling the room that Conrad withheld the morphine because Spiro was in respiratory distress. Spiro yells out, asking him why he is lying while Kim shakes his head.

Later, Conrad and Devon sit in a room together alone. Devon admits that he lied on Conrad’s behalf because his patients need him.

Nic goes to stop by to visit the spinal patient. Kyle is in the room. She overhears him tell the patient how Nic is the best thing about Chastain and the best thing about him. If it wasn’t for her he wouldn’t have made it through Jessie‘s death.

Mina visits her best friend in the rectory. They both admit they are scared, holding hands in silence.

Bell gives his resignation to Kim as an administrative head but he isn’t stepping down as chief of surgery. His contract is bulletproof. Bell tells Kit about what has happened and the fact that everybody has a target on their back, especially Conrad.

THE END!
