The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that a new love triangle could be brewing on the CBS soap. Y&R fans know Donny Boaz recently debuted as a Phillip “Chance” Chancellor IV recast. Now that Chance is back in town, he’ll need a love interest pretty soon. There are two intriguing options that the show could choose – and they just might go with both initially!
After all, love triangles a soap staple. They’re particularly fun due to the rivalries that tend to come out of them. Of course, The Young and the Restless has already established that Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) don’t get along. They may be partners at the Grand Phoenix, but they’re basically still enemies. Phyllis weaseled her way back into the deal, so Abby’s been forced to put up with her.
Abby and Phyllis always find reasons to clash, so this is the perfect opportunity to give them another one. Will Phyllis and Abby end up vying for Chance’s affections? If so, this could lead to some major catfights and shouting matches in the coming months.
Chance is a bit on the arrogant side, which Phyllis called him out for. He suggested that most people find that charming – and Phyllis probably does deep down. She’s an arrogant person as well and can relate to that aspect of Chance.
However, Abby and Phyllis are both crucial to Chance in the episode airing November 12. They both play pivotal roles in the plot to stop the hostage crisis, which could be a hint about what’s to come. Perhaps they’ll both become crucial to Chance’s love life as well.
Based on Chance’s reaction to Abby’s involvement, it’s easy to imagine them spending some together and bonding soon. Phyllis certainly wouldn’t like that. She’s been curious about Chance ever since she learned he was connected to Adam. Y&R has seemingly been laying the groundwork for Chance and Phyllis to be a couple for months.
That could be another clue about this potential love triangle. Abby may be poised for more heartbreak. When it comes to love, Abby is one of the unluckiest characters in the soap world. Chance honestly doesn’t seem like he’d be a good match for Abby, and they probably have no shot at a long-term romance. Of course, that’s pretty typical! Y&R often sets Abby up to fail with disastrous, chemistry-free pairings that are never going to work.
If the writers decide to go with this love triangle, Phyllis will likely be the one to emerge victorious. Chance’s an adventurous guy who’d probably like a firecracker like Phyllis. The Young and the Restless spoilers say they’ll definitely be spending more time together in the coming episodes, so stay tuned.
