The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Summer Abbott (Hunter King) may be fighting a battle she just can’t win. Even if she can, will she ever be free of Lola Rosales’ (Sasha Calle) threat? It certainly didn’t take much for Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor) to almost jump into bed with Lola. He doesn’t go all the way in Thursday’s episode, but he comes awfully close.
Kyle insists he’s desperately in love with Lola, so should Summer just give it a rest? It’s easy to see how much she loves Kyle and hopes this marriage will work, but Kyle can’t get past how he truly feels. The heart wants what it wants, and Kyle’s heart wants Lola. What’s Summer fighting for if Kyle can’t love her the way she needs him to?
Maybe Summer needs to take a page out of her mom’s playbook. Phyllis Summers (Gina Tognoni) recently lost everything, including her relationship with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and her job as Jabot’s CEO. However, Phyllis isn’t letting any of that drag her down. She’s out there pursuing new strategies and has put Nick in the rearview mirror.
Is it time for Summer to put Kyle behind her, too – at least for now? There’s always a chance Summer will end up pregnant and change the game for Kyle, but there are other options as well. Summer would probably be better off to just step aside and let “Kola” implode on their own.
It’s no secret that Kyle and Lola faced plenty of issues when they were an item. If Summer could stop manipulating Kyle and just be patient, she might get what she really wanted. Summer could be there to mend Kyle’s broken heart if things crumble.
Of course, Y&R could also completely shift gears and pair Summer up with someone new. That would keep her busy and away from “Kola” as they rebuild their romance. Sean Dominic recently debuted as a Dr. Nate Hastings recast. It might be interesting if Summer fell for the good doc.
If Summer faces some liver transplant complications and needs more care, it’d be the ideal way for Nate and Summer to bond. The Young and the Restless could even bring back Fenmore “Fen” Baldwin (Zach Tinker) or add someone to fill the void in Summer’s heart. It all depends on what direction they want to take Kyle’s love life in.
