Days of Our Lives (DOOL) spoilers reveal that Paul Telfer (Xander Kiriakis) faced a major snag on set in some scenes that aired recently. It hasn’t been that long since DOOL fans watched Xander leap into action at Statesville. Thanks to Xander’s heroic efforts, Maggie Kiriakis (Suzanne Rogers) was saved following her suicide attempt.
That certainly brought some gripping Days drama, but it turns out there was a bit of a blooper behind the scenes! In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, both Suzanne Rogers and Paul Telfer opened up about a blunder that happened on the prison set. Telfer used a little too much force when it was time to open a door, which created a commotion.
“There was a sliding glass door he had to open, “Rogers explained. “For some reason, he thought it was a full open door. He pulled it right off the runners and it went flying.” Telfer also acknowledged the slipup and admitted he can be a tad forgetful. It’s hard to remember these sets don’t usually operate the way buildings do in real life!
Even so, Telfer remained a pro and focused on his job as an actor. “As soon as they called action, I ran, swung the door aside, swept up Suzanne, and started acting my heart out,” Telfer said. “I heard all this clanging and smashing behind me, but I didn’t stop until somebody yelled cut.”
Once cut was indeed called, Telfer heard laughter erupt. People were even wheezing into the PA system, so Telfer wasn’t sure what had gone down. “I looked over and saw that I’d torn down the set wall,” Telfer admitted. “I said, ‘Sorry, guys, I guess I didn’t realize my own strength.”
Since those Days of Our Lives scenes were so heavy, it’s nice to hear a funny story about how they came together. Things may be serious onscreen, but there are always going to be bloopers to lighten things up on set. It sounds like Telfer had an Incredible Hulk moment, but the scenes looked great in the end. Both Telfer and Rogers pulled off some fantastic work, so that’s all that matters.
