General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) will get a sense of closure on September 15. Carly will finally have what she needs to move on, but what does that mean exactly?
It’s possible this ties in with Mike Corbin’s (Max Gail) looming death, but Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) seems like the one who really needs closure on that.
Carly’s need for closure may involve something else – something like proof of Nelle Benson Jerome’s (Chloe Lanier) grim fate. If Nelle’s body is never found, Carly will have no sense of closure at all. There may always be part of Carly that wonders if Nelle might come back and cause more issues.
If Nelle’s corpse turns up, that’d certainly bring the closure Carly’s looking for. It’d settle things and allow Carly to fully move on. Carly will have to deal with her decision to cover up what happened with Jasper “Jax” Jacks’ (Ingo Rademacher) no matter what.
However, knowing Nelle’s dead would be a relief in a way. Nelle’s the only person who was on the cliff that night, so she wouldn’t be talking.
Of course, we have to acknowledge that Nelle’s a great schemer for General Hospital. Love her or hate her, Nelle brings a lot of drama. Since Nelle is Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) biological daughter, there’s still tons of material for GH writers to work with.
It’s doubtful this death will stick when Nelle’s one of those characters who can keep coming back to shake things up.
So let’s consider the situation for a moment. The show itself needs Nelle alive, but Carly needs Nelle dead – and so does Peter August (Wes Ramsey).
GH fans know Peter’s worried about Nelle blowing up his life if she’s apprehended. It’d be better for Peter if everyone believed Nelle was dead so they’d stop looking for her.
Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) is going to help Peter, but just how far will he go to do that? Perhaps Valentin could put money in the right hands to fake Nelle’s death. Maybe there’s a blonde who’s the right height and build to play the part.
Valentin might intercept a body that’s headed to the morgue and make it look like Nelle fell off the cliff in the area where she was last spotted.
The body might be wounded and decomposed enough that the difference wouldn’t be noticeable. All Valentin would have to do is bribe a few people to make sure they “confirm” that’s Nelle and not this woman he’s passing off as her.
In Valentin’s mind, he might be doing Nelle an undeserved favor by getting the cops off her back. More importantly, Valentin would be getting rid of Peter’s problem by stopping the search.
Since Peter probably can’t track Nelle down to kill her, this might be his best option. Peter would just have to hope Nelle has sense enough not to return and mess things up for herself.
Naturally, this storyline could get all kinds of complicated once Nelle is revealed as Nina’s long-lost daughter. Valentin might be torn about how much he should admit under the circumstances. Whatever the case, closure is coming for Carly – and closure could come in the form of a body that appears to be Nelle’s.
