General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Lindsay Hartley’s doing an excellent job as a temporary Sam McCall recast, but many fans are naturally eager to see the real deal again! Is Kelly Monaco filming new GH episodes? Is the original Sam coming back? Here’s what we know so far.
Once fans learned Lindsay would be stepping up as Sam for a couple weeks, more details started to come out. After having some mask problems at the studio, Kelly tested negative for COVID-19 multiple times but was still placed under a 14-day quarantine.
That’s according to Monaco’s mom, Carmina Monaco, who assured everyone that her daughter was doing just fine.
On Twitter, Carmina also indicated that Kelly was expected back on set by Monday, August 3. However, Carmina’s next update suggested Kelly wasn’t back by then. “Kelly is doing great! She is healthy, safe, and looking forward to returning to GH. Much love,” Carmina said on August 3.
If Kelly was still looking forward to her return on August 3, then it seemingly means she wasn’t back by August 3.
Carmina hasn’t offered further General Hospital updates – and neither has Kelly on her own social media accounts. Nevertheless, Lindsay has always been clear about this just being a temporary gig. This isn’t about filling Kelly’s spot as Sam; it’s just about playing some crucial scenes while Kelly can’t be there.
On Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli) and Steve Burton’s (Jason Morgan) podcast, they addressed the topic of Kelly’s absence – at least in a way.
When a fan wanted confirmation that Kelly was doing better, Steve promised that was indeed the case. “Yes! She’s doing great,” Steve insisted. Since Steve’s in on the loop on Kelly and her status, that suggests that Kelly’s back filming or at least will be soon.
