General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) may have a difficult decision to make. If Jason wants to avoid the deadly fate Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) has in mind for him, faking his demise seems like the way to go. It’s the only surefire strategy to prevent another murder attempt.
Of course, Jason will have to go all in if that’s the tactic he chooses. If Jason opts for a faux death like Marcus Taggert (Real Andrews), who also seems to be alive, then Jason will need to make it look legit.
Jason might tell Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) since they’re both in this fight against Cyrus, but all Jason’s other loved ones would probably remain in the dark.
Sonny and Jason might agree it’d be for the best under the circumstances. Keeping all their loved ones safe would be the priority. Naturally, that’d bring soul-crushing grief for everyone who cares about Jason. General Hospital fans would definitely get some gripping drama out of that storyline.
Sam McCall (Lindsay Hartley), Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and many others have lost Jason before, but it might feel more final to them this time, especially if Carly pulls the plug. This would just be part of the fake death plot, but it would likely look real to everyone involved – except for perhaps Sonny.
Regardless, Cyrus at least needs to believe Jason’s really dead. For that to happen, a funeral would have to take place. It’s easy to imagine Cyrus crashing that funeral – just to dance on Jason’s grave and extend phony condolences to Sam.
Cyrus might also taunt Carly at this somber event. GH’s latest villain could pretend he hopes Carly never has to plan one of these for her own husband.
Jason’s phony demise and funeral could certainly affect plenty of characters, including Danny Morgan (Porter Fasullo) and Scout Cain (Ella Ramacieri). Sam and Carly would obviously be affected as well – and so would Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell).
Michael could easily lean on Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) as he copes with Jason’s “death,” which would pull them even closer.
Bottom line, there are some great reasons for Jason to go as far as having a fake funeral. All of them boil down to protecting himself and the people he cares about. The short-term pain would be worth it if it helped bring down Cyrus for good! As other GH news pops up, we’ll offer more updates.
