General Hospital Spoilers: Kiki Portrait Switch Sets Up Hayley Erin’s Return – Is Ava’s Daughter Dead or Alive?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Ava Cassadine (Maura West) needs a way forward. Ever since Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) was brutally murdered, Ava’s been stuck in a state of guilty limbo. Guilt has been the theme for what feels like forever – and it’s the theme GH is sticking with now.

Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) already suggested Ava was punishing herself through this marriage to Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma). Then, Nikolas argued Ava was using him as a scapegoat for her own guilt. Kiki’s name consistently comes up because Ava has so many regrets.

In fact, the mention of Kiki left Ava distraught during the portrait unveiling party. Nikolas tried to compare his situation with Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel) to Ava’s situation with Kiki, but Franco saw it for what it was: an attempt to wound Ava. It left Ava wondering if she’d ever be able to hear Kiki’s name without being heartbroken.

That brings us to some intriguing story clues. Ava reflected on what it’d be like if Kiki were still out there and she could somehow make things right with her. Although Ava acknowledged that she can’t do that for herself, she thought she could do that for Nikolas and Spencer.

Since Nikolas is scheming with Spencer to guilt-trip Ava, she believes it’s up to her to offer closure – the closure she never got with Kiki. GH fans will recall how Ava reached out to Kiki via psychic and supposedly got a hateful response from her daughter. Kiki was hostile in that dream Ava had as well.

Ava’s never been able to find peace, but she’s hoping she can do that by letting go of the Cassadine fortune – at least she was until that portrait unveiling! There’s a good chance Ava’s painting was switched for one of Kiki.

The guests looked puzzled and uncomfortable, so it lines up with having a portrait of Ava’s dead daughter in the room.

Where is General Hospital going with this? After all the Kiki chaos, there’s pretty much no way GH can get by without having her return in some form. It would be a huge letdown if Ava couldn’t get the closure she was talking about.

Since Nikolas is presumably behind this portrait stunt, Ava certainly won’t be getting it the way she intended. This is sure to rile Ava up and make her understand that her husband is manipulating her. Ava may stand by the post-nup after all and refuse to walk away.

If Kiki’s coming back as she seems to be, will she be dead or alive? This is a soap, so you can never rule out a wild return from the dead – especially since Ava made that statement about how she’d feel if Kiki were still out there somewhere.

Then again, “somewhere” may be in the great beyond. Will Ava have another chance to speak to Kiki in ghost form? There’s no guarantee Ava’s previous contact with dead Kiki was real.

Psychics are kind of iffy anyway, and Ava’s vision was seemingly something she dreamed up herself. It was a manifestation of Ava’s guilt over how she treated Kiki.

Ava needs to know Kiki’s forgiven her – and maybe Kiki has. That psychic could’ve been wrong and so could Ava’s dream version of Kiki. Even if Kiki really was furious back then, Ava still has a shot at winning her deceased daughter over.

Many General Hospital fans would like to see Hayley Erin reprise the role of Kiki, even if it was just for a brief appearance or two. Will Kiki come back and give Ava the true closure she so desperately needs? Could Kiki’s ghost end this guilt theme once and for all?

Of course, most of us would welcome Kiki back to the land of the living if GH wanted to offer a crazy twist! One way or another, Kiki’s return appears to be in the works.

As other updates emerge, we’ll have other news to pass along. General Hospital spoilers say some exciting things are in store for Ava, so keep watching. CDL’s your hotspot for fantastic General Hospital spoilers, news and updates.
