General Hospital (GH) spoilers has some fun news to pass on about a nice showing of support by Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos, GH) for fellow soap star Courtney Hope who’s just announced a big move.
As you might have heard, Courtney Hope (Sally Spectra, B&B) recently broke the news that she is headed to The Young and the Restless after her most recent stint as Sally on The Bold and the Beautiful came to an abrupt end earlier this month.
Well, after Courtney teased her move to Y&R in an Instagram post, the news got out pretty quickly, and Maurice responded enthusiastically to Michael Fairman’s tweet about the news.
Maurice retweeted Michael’s post announcing the news and posted a smiley emoji along with several clapping hands emojis. Courtney promptly responded with: “Thanks Maurice” along with some nice emojis of her own.
To that, Maurice replied: “Go kick butt” with more emojis, indicating his support for Courtney and her move to B&B’s sister soap. And Maurice wasn’t the only one with supportive words for Courtney on her move.
One person responded to the thread by saying: “I like her! I will miss Courtney on B&B. I wonder who her character will be. Looking forward to seeing her on Y&R!”
Another person responded by saying: “She’s amazing. I’m glad she found a new home to show off her talent.” Finally, someone responded with: “Phyllis needs a run for her money…”
Of course, that person is referring to Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), one of the leading ladies on Y&R, where Courtney is headed. One wonders whether Courtney’s character will tangle with Phyllis, both being redheads.
On that note, it will be interesting to see what character Courtney will be portraying on Y&R. Since Y&R is a sister soap to B&B, it’s entirely possible that Courtney could reprise her role as Sally Spectra over on Y&R.
It would make sense at this point for Sally to hightail it out of Los Angeles and head for Genoa City, perhaps to see Lauren Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) for a new career opportunity.
Long-time Y&R and B&B viewers (or even newer viewers who watched some of the encore episodes that aired recently) know that Lauren was a cross-over character herself, appearing on B&B for a while. Lauren had a working relationship and friendship with the elder Sally Spectra (Darlene Conley), and those ladies got in some major trouble back in the day.
It’s conceivable that Sally could show up on Lauren’s doorstep looking for some career guidance, as well as some personal guidance after her debacle with Wyatt Spencer (Darin Brooks) back in Los Angeles.
Sally really hit rock bottom when she decided to fake a terminal illness to hold onto Wyatt, and she could use a reset. Genoa City might be just what she needs to start over.
Of course, it’s also possible that Courtney will show up in Genoa City as a totally new character, and we’ll be sure to keep you informed as we hear details about that.
In the meantime, it’s just great to know that Courtney will be back on our screens over at Y&R soon, and it’s wonderful to see Maurice supporting his fellow soap actors and reaching out.
