General Hospital Spoilers: Max Gail Responds to Fan Outrage Over No Daytime Emmy Nomination – Mike Corbin Star Explains Why

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the nominations for the 47th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are out. There are certainly plenty of talented performers being recognized for their work, including several GH stars. However, there was one glaring omission that left many fans outraged.

In 2019, Max Gail (Mike Corbin) took home the statuette for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series – and it was perhaps one of the most deserved awards of the night. Gail’s been portraying Mike’s slow and painful decline expertly. From the very beginning of this Alzheimer’s storyline, Gail has really knocked it out of the park.

That’s why many General Hospital fans expected Gail would be nominated once again for his fantastic, gripping scenes. When Gail didn’t make the cut this year, it didn’t take long for the angry tweets to start up. “Congrats to all. All well deserved… but no Max Gail!??” one viewer complained.

“Dear @DaytimeEmmys why were Maurice Benard and Max Gail not nominationed for their fantastic work on the Alzheimer’s storyline?! Hopefully next year they get the recognition they deserve,” another fan said. Others were quick to put Gail on their “most snubbed” lists. They felt Gail should’ve once again been given the honor of a nomination for his amazing performances.

Of course, there’s often another side to the story in these types of situations. It turns out there’s a good explanation for why Gail wasn’t given a nomination: He didn’t submit any scenes! It seems Gail sweetly wanted to give someone else a chance to win this year, so he didn’t throw his hat in the ring this time around.

On Twitter, Gail explained his decision to an upset GH fan. “In my case I didn’t submit this year,” Gail admitted. “I loved being nominated and the honor if actually winning, but not others losing. If Mo submitted and wasn’t nominated that surprises me, because he’s awesome.”

Maurice Benard cleared that matter up on his own Twitter account. As the winner of 2019’s Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, Benard also chose not to submit this year. It’s good to know that neither Gail nor Benard were snubbed! They just wanted to let their fellow soap stars have an opportunity to shine.
