General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that we need to take a closer look at the so-called death of Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier). The news of Nelle’s demise is spreading rapidly – and the reactions in Port Charles have ranged from relieved to flat-out happy about it.

Everyone feels free and has decided Nelle’s reign of terror is over, but there are some good reasons to think that’s not true.

Let’s consider some new clues that GH writers have offered. For starters, there’s this weird emphasis on exactly where Nelle’s body turned up: the Pennsylvania side of the river.

If you were to play a drinking game with that phrase, you’d be passed-out drunk quicker than you can say…well, the Pennsylvania side of the river! General Hospital wants us to remember this information, so it should be important.

Of course, this is strange considering the necklace fell right below where Nelle herself presumably fell. Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) was able to take a little nighttime stroll down there and pick up some new bling, so we’re thinking they exaggerated how high this cliff was.

Why was Nelle’s body on the Pennsylvania side of the river instead of near the half-heart pendant? Shouldn’t Nelle have just gone splat close to the log? And who exactly gave this positive ID?

There are so many odd questions, but the oddest just might involve Nelle’s cause of death. Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet, Chase pointed out that Nelle appears to have drowned.

Wait a minute! Are we talking about the famous Janelle Benson – STAR swimmer of the Lake High Dolphins? The same Nelle who won a gold medal for swimming and set a league record in the 50-meter freestyle?

Expert swimmer Nelle who used that to her advantage when arranged for her fiancé, Zachary Grant, to drown in a kayaking incident?

Of all the ways for Nelle to die, drowning is the least plausible thing GH writers could’ve picked – and they have to know that. It’s also highly suspicious that viewers haven’t seen this corpse yet.

We saw all Ryan Chamberlain’s (Jon Lindstrom) victims, including Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin). Deceased Shiloh Archer (Coby Ryan McLaughlin) was seen in a body bag. Neil Byrne (Joe Flanigan) was dead on screen, too.

What makes Nelle a special case where GH isn’t showing us anything? They may be holding back so they can deny it was Nelle at all later. Chase mentioned that he was going to the morgue to look into this, but there was no follow-up discussion on that.

It’ll be easier for General Hospital to undo Nelle’s death if they don’t show us any proof to see for ourselves. We have to believe there’s a reason General Hospital is taking such a shady approach to “confirming” Nelle’s demise.

Do you think Nelle’s alive somewhere? Did Nelle get some help from an accomplice and fake all this? As other GH updates emerge, we’ll keep you posted.
