General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Cyrus Renault’s (Jeff Kober) link to Martin Gray (Michael E. Knight) raises all kinds of interesting questions and possibilities. Cyrus and Martin have clearly been mixed up in each other’s business behind the scenes, so that opens the door to some big twists.
Whether Martin is Cyrus’ brother or perhaps another relative, there’s a bond of some sort here. Martin obviously doesn’t like Cyrus much, but that’s pretty common in complicated families. Perhaps Martin doesn’t approve of how far Cyrus tends to take things and is fed up with his potential brother’s tactics.
Whatever the case, Martin’s connection to Cyrus help us make sense of the legal strategy he used in Nelle Benson Jerome’s (Chloe Lanier) custody case. GH fans will recall that Nelle was upset about Martin’s incompetence, so let’s unpack that a bit.
The best weapon in Martin’s arsenal would’ve been to highlight the mob danger Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) brought to Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos’ (Erik and Theo Olson) life.
Since Martin mostly steered away from that angle, maybe that was mostly about steering away from any talk of Sonny’s battle with Cyrus.
Regardless, Martin and Nelle were closely connected during her latest stint on the show. That makes us wonder if Nelle could be connected to Cyrus, too. We shouldn’t forget that General Hospital never showed us Nelle’s body after her death.
Cyrus is in the drug business and has guinea pigs to test his product. He proved that after Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) nearly died and he called someone to nonchalantly talk about tweaking the new formula.
How many other addicted vulnerable girls have become test subjects and overdosed? How many of those overdoses led to sudden deaths?
Let’s say Cyrus found some young blonde woman who was the same height and build as Nelle – perhaps someone with no family who wouldn’t be missed. Whether Cyrus intentionally killed this girl or she just met a grim fate due to drug testing gone wrong, there’s the potential for a body swap.
Cyrus happens to GH’s chairman of the board and had all the control he needed to make sure the autopsy report confirmed what he wanted. Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) supposedly saw Nelle’s body, but it may have been a close enough match that even he was fooled.
As the old saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Cyrus might’ve pushed Martin to help Nelle and then helped Nelle himself after things didn’t pan out for her.
Nelle and Cyrus have common foes in Sonny and the Corinthos clan, so maybe Nelle’s off recovering from her fall somewhere – plotting her comeback with Cyrus’ assistance!
Did Cyrus help Nelle fake her death? Does Martin know about it? Something tells us we haven’t seen the last of Nelle, so Cyrus might be the one who makes her return possible. We’ll offer updates as other GH news comes in.
