General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) seems poised to make a shocking return. Everyone knows presumed deaths rarely stick on soaps. Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) assume Nelle’s gone for good, but she almost certainly isn’t!
Nelle may have to make a secret recovery somewhere, but she’ll probably come back with a vengeance when she’s ready. Of course, Nelle can’t just resurface without a plan. This presumed death should give her some time to regroup and figure out how she’s going to punish the Corinthos clan next.
To be fair, Nelle actually has some legitimate reasons to be angry at Carly right now. Before Carly bent down to try and save Nelle, she hesitated. Carly admitted to Jax that she thought Nelle was trying to trick her, so Carly wasted valuable seconds that could’ve been spent pulling Nelle up.
Nelle was busy losing her grip and getting ready to take the fall of the century.
Carly eventually offered her hand to Nelle and truly tried to save her, but Nelle’s likely going to feel like Carly’s the one who pulled a trick. Since there’s such a terrible feud between these two, Nelle’s probably going to tell herself this is what Carly wanted – for Nelle to take her hand so Carly could let it go.
There’s also this cover-up to consider. What if Nelle’s down there bleeding with broken bones and no one to help her? By assuming Nelle’s dead, Carly and Jax are denying her medical care. They’re forcing Nelle to suffer down there when they could be sending paramedics.
When you throw in the feud Nelle already has with Carly, GH has set up a great new angle for this story. Once Carly lies to the cops and Nelle recovers on her own elsewhere, perhaps Nelle will put her next plot in motion.
Nelle “haunted” Carly once by pretending Morgan Corinthos (Bryan Craig) had come back from the dead, so she’s got experience in this department.
Now Nelle’s got good reasons to “haunt” Carly as herself! It’s easy to imagine some strange happenings in the weeks or months ahead. Since Nelle will probably be back in the flesh eventually, General Hospital writers might build to that with another Nelle haunting scheme.
Nelle might sneak around and do things to convince Carly she’s back in spirt form for revenge.
That’d leave Carly to wonder if this haunting was real, Nelle’s latest trick or if she was just losing her mind. There’d be some fun places to go with a storyline like that, so maybe GH will make it part of this after “death” chapter for Nelle. Maybe Nelle’s “ghost” will take center stage!
