General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) is feeling confident now that he’s got Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) as a devoted wife. Michael believes the judge will rule in his favor since he can offer a stable two-parent home with a mom who already knows and loves Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson).
Of course, Michael wasn’t counting on blushing bride Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) blowing into the courtroom like some sort of wedding hurricane. Nelle has apparently blackmailed Julian Jerome (William deVry) into marrying her, but her latest move could backfire on both herself AND Michael.
Nelle showed up in a wedding gown with a bridal bouquet at the very last second. It was delightfully soapy and fun, but it was also completely ridiculous. If the judge can’t see this for the ploy it is, he doesn’t deserve to be a judge. If GH fans know what’s happening here, the judge should, too.
Nelle’s move may highlight that Michael’s own last-minute marriage was a ploy as well. Judge Lowe is probably going to feel like these feuding parents are playing dirty. It’s not a good look for either of them.
Judge Lowe is trying to determine who can make the best decisions about Wiley’s care, but Michael and Nelle both made bad decisions with these sudden marriages.
In other words, Michael and Nelle’s marriage ploys may have cancelled each other out. The judge may not buy either one as legit, and he may end up slamming them for their wedding stunts. Nevertheless, what’s done is done. Michael has a new wife and Nelle has a new husband, so their spouses are going to be factors in the outcome.
Since Michael started this by marrying Willow, it serves him right for Nelle to play the wedding card right back. On the surface, it may not seem like having Julian for a hubby would help much. However, General Hospital spoilers say it could actually help Nelle offset many elements of Diane’s strategy.
If Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) tries to argue that Nelle is a stranger to Wiley, Martin Gray (Michael E. Knight) can point out that Wiley knows and loves his former grandpa.
If Diane brings up the fact that Willow initially didn’t want Wiley around Julian, Martin can point out that Willow changed her mind. She saw the good in Julian – an ex-convict who’s turned his life around, just like Nelle’s trying to do.
Nelle can give Wiley two parents now just like Michael. Even though the judge may see through the marriage manipulation, they’ll still cancel each other out in terms of the benefits they offer Wiley.
As Diane has mentioned, it’s awfully hard to strip a mother of custodial rights. Unless Diane can whip out some horrifying surprise, there’s pretty much no way Nelle’s going to face a total loss. Nelle might even get full custody, but it seems like she’ll at least get joint custody with Michael.
It makes the most sense for the story if Nelle has access to Wiley and a reason to keep sparring with the Corinthos family. We’ll fill you in as other news and updates pop up.
