General Hospital (GH) spoilers has some great news to pass on about a popular GH star. Réal Andrews, who portrays Marcus Taggert on the ABC soap, recently shared some news with his fans about his health status.
As you might be aware, in episodes that are currently airing now, the role of Taggert is temporarily being played by Asante Jones due to Réal apparently being unable to film for a while.
As GH viewers will remember, the big scene in which Taggert was reunited and revealed to not actually be dead featured Asante Jones in the role – something that took many fans by surprise.
But the reality is that actors occasionally need to be replaced from time to time due to illness or conflicts with scheduling. It just so happened that at the time of Réal’s temporary replacement there was a pivotal scene.
At any rate, Réal took to Instagram, where he posted a video clearing up some things about his current health status. In the video, Réal is joined by his adorable dog Diamond, and Réal explains that he wanted to go on the record since there has been a lot of speculation and rumors about his current health status.
In case you didn’t know, Réal faced a battle with prostate cancer back in 2019, and he underwent a course of treatment for the disease. And with the temporary recast of Taggert, it seems that some fans naturally worried that perhaps Réal’s health problems had returned. So, Réal decided to clear things up.
“First and foremost, I just got my results back from my year check-in yesterday, and I was very happy, and I am absolutely cancer-free,” Réal shares in the video. “I am probably in the best shape of my life.
So, I appreciate all your prayers and support, and everything…I am very healthy and in good hands. God’s got me, and it was exciting news, so I wanted to come here and share that with you.”
Fans have been replying right and left to Réal’s news, with lots of well wishes and expressions of happiness and relief. For example, one fan commented: “Réal, this is good news. I am so happy for you. Stay safe and healthy and soon we will see you back on GH. You are loved.”
This is fantastic news, and we’re happy and relieved to hear that Réal received a glowing report from his doctors. We hope to see Réal back on GH soon!
