General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that there have been several ailing Port Charles residents lately, but one more may be on the way. When Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) was left comatose following that explosion at The Floating Rib, Dr. Patrick Drake (last played by Jason Thompson) was called to consult on the case.
Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) also mentioned how Patrick was willing to help Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth), who’s battling a brain tumor.
Now General Hospital spoilers say Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) will be rocked by some major medical news, which brings yet another opportunity for Patrick to become part of the story.
With all the Patrick mentions, we have to consider the possibility that GH might bring on a recast. Jason Thompson won a Daytime Emmy for playing Billy Abbott on The Young and the Restless and is honestly one of the show’s biggest stars now. It’s all Billy, all the time over on Y&R!
Thompson isn’t returning to General Hospital, so a new actor will have to portray Patrick if GH does intend to recast the role. Of course, that’d mean breaking up Patrick and Robin Scorpio-Drake’s (Kimberly McCullough) offscreen relationship, but that’d be easy enough.
We never see Robin and Patrick, so it really wouldn’t be that big of a deal.
There’s one more Patrick mention we want to concentrate on – one that could fit with these General Hospital spoilers about Sam’s medical news. On November 30, Sam opened up to Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) about how she felt when she was engaged to Patrick.
For the first time in Sam’s life, she wasn’t running a con, married to the mob or looking over her shoulder every second. Sam admitted that it made her feel “normal” – and she liked it.
This is interesting since a) the whole point of breaking up “JaSam” is so Sam can live a more normal life with her children and b) Sam’s got some sort of medical issue ahead. Could all of this add up to a reunion for Sam and the good doctor? Could a Patrick recast enter the picture for Sam?
Jason has Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) as his next love interest, so Sam could use someone else to fall for, too. Bringing Patrick back to Port Charles might be the way to go here. Sam could reconnect with Patrick and get that safe life she’s been craving.
