General Hospital (GH) spoilers has some sad news to pass on about a death in the family of a beloved GH star. Sarah Joy Brown, who originated the role of Carly Benson Corinthos on the ABC soap and held the role from 1996-2009, recently announced on social media that her father David Brown has passed away at the age of 73.
On Instagram, Sarah posted several photographs of her father, including some throwback photos. In addition, Sarah posted an audio clip of her father speaking, which appears to have been recorded shortly before his death as he was battling cancer.
In the audio clip, David talks about how joyful and blessed he is, even though he’s fighting cancer in his final days. It’s truly inspiring, and you can listen to the clip below.
Sarah captioned her post by writing: “In loving memory of my father, David Brown, who passed away Tuesday afternoon. Our Dad had a uniquely grateful way of looking at life and his laughter remains one of my favorite sounds.
I was incredibly blessed to have him not only as a Father but one of my closest friends. Rest In Peace Dearest David Brown 1947-2020.”
A short time later, Sarah posted another set of photos, including several of herself and her father together. One of the photos shows Sarah and her dad on the General Hospital set in March 1999. Sarah captioned this set of photos: “David Brown has left the building…Rest in power, Pop.”
Some of Sarah’s soap star friends have written in on social media with their expressions of condolences. Eric Martsolf (Brady Black, DOOL) responded on Instagram with several comforting emojis.
And Alicia Minshew (Kendall Hart, AMC) commented: “What a beautiful man and what beautiful words. I am so incredibly sorry for this deep and profound loss. He is always with you. I love you sweet girl.”
Patrika Darbo (Nancy Wesley, DOOL) also reached out on Twitter with an offer of help. Patrika wrote: “Sarah, do you need anything, your mom. I’m so sorry. Pease, if you need anything.”
Others who follow Sarah had written in with their words of comfort as well. One follower replied to Sarah by saying: “Sarah, my deepest condolences to you and your family. A father’s love stays in the hearts of his children for a lifetime. May those special memories lift your hearts during these difficult days. My love and prayers go with all of you!!”
Others related to Sarah’s heartbreak by sharing their own stories of recent loss. For example, someone commented: “Sarah, I’m truly sorry for your loss. I lost my father in September and understand this heartbreak all too well. May memories comfort you through the grief.”
