General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) will have to inch toward a place of acceptance. Letting Mike Corbin (Max Gail) go is proving to be one of the hardest things Sonny’s ever done. Sonny’s struggling to know what Mike would want and just isn’t ready to say goodbye.
Nevertheless, it’s clear that Mike’s Alzheimer’s storyline is winding down. Sonny will eventually lose his father, so he should sink to a pretty dark place. Mike’s death is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean Sonny’s prepared for it.
General Hospital spoilers say Sonny will have to mourn and try to figure out what his world looks like without Mike in it.
Fortunately, there could be some light at the end of this tunnel. Whenever a character goes through a time of intense heartache, there’s usually some happiness waiting on the other side. It may take time and work to get there, but the clouds have to part eventually. Sonny should get some good news to offset this difficult blow.
Although Sonny’s losing his dad, perhaps he’ll get his son back in return. There have been far too many Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) mentions for it to just be a coincidence. It seems obvious that a Dante return’s in the works – at least it was before the COVID-19 aka coronavirus forced a studio shutdown.
Once General Hospital resumes production, there’s a good chance Zamprogna will be back on set along with the rest of the cast. Of course, there are no guarantees, but all these Dante mentions have to be building somewhere.
Since Zamprogna recently told Soaps In Depth he was willing to come back on contract, GH would be crazy to turn him down. There’s a goldmine of Dante drama waiting back in Port Charles.
It seems likely that’s why Dante’s name is coming up so much. General Hospital seems to be setting the stage for Dante’s return – and this is certainly the perfect time for Sonny.
Dante will undoubtedly still have some healing to do and may never quite be the man he once was. However, if Dante can get to the point where he’s no longer a danger to anyone else, he can come back home and rely on his loved ones’ support.
Sonny would definitely appreciate this reunion after Mike’s demise leaves him so distraught. It’d also give Sonny something positive to focus on. Sonny could move past his grief by concentrating on Dante and helping him move forward.
