General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that the ABC soap just wrapped up “CarSon” week, which was all about Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly Corinthos’ (Laura Wright) love story. We saw some sweet moments along with some truly heartbreaking ones. That’s just how it goes with soap romances! You can’t stay on cloud nine forever, so there are always going to be some storms rolling in.
With all the Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) drama and Mike Corbin’s (Max Gail) imminent death, this might be a good opportunity to tear Carly and Sonny apart. When you throw in the custody battle with Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier), there’s a lot of Corinthos chaos going on. It’d be perfectly reasonable for all the stress to take a toll on Carly and Sonny’s relationship.
Benard has been vocal about how much he’d like to have Vanessa Marcil back on GH as Brenda Barrett. Brenda would be a great option for Sonny if a “Carson” split ever happened again. Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) is always going to be a good backup for Carly, but maybe we should think outside the box.
Should General Hospital consider pairing Carly up with a character she’s never been with before? Let’s consider a possibility that’d be surprising in some ways and not-so-surprising in others. Laura Wright and Wes Ramsey (Peter August) are a real-life couple, so it might be interesting if GH put them together as an onscreen item.
Peter’s happy with Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) right now, but his world’s bound to blow up once all his dark secrets are exposed. There’s no guarantee Maxie’s baby will survive either. “Paxie” seems completely doomed, so we should consider Peter’s romantic future if he remains on the show.
The problem is Peter’s going to be a pariah for a while. Carly would certainly have major issues with Peter’s behavior along with Maxie and pretty much everyone else in Port Charles.
Peter will have to suffer for quite some time, but redemption is possible. Sonny’s done some horrible things as well, so it’s not like Carly’s opposed to guys with dark tendencies who make mistakes.
If nothing else, maybe Carly and Peter could come together in a we’ll-regret-it-in-the-morning hookup. When you combine pain with perhaps a bit too much to drink, you can get strange bedfellows on soaps. Would you ever be interested in a Peter and Carly romance? What about a one-night-only bedroom blunder?
There are plenty of safety protocols that’ll have to be followed after GH is back in production. The Bold and the Beautiful is using real-life partners as stand-ins in scenes that require touching, but what if General Hospital ditched the stand-in part?
Ramsey and Wright are an actual couple who work on the same show, so it might be smart to put their characters together in a story.
Some of us would at least be curious to see if Wright and Ramsey’s real-life chemistry would shine through onscreen, too. Never say never in the soap world! Wright clearly likes having Ramsey as part of the General Hospital cast, so maybe she could fight for “Parly” passion at some point.
