In California, Kelly and Kim are cleaning out the garage. Kim says it is crazy that this is going to be their house one day. Kim has been relying on Matt to communicate with Kelly, and she feels like it is going nowhere. Kim tells her that she wants to set boundaries, she doesn’t want her to have a key to their house. And, her waking up Matt for breakfast is started to weigh on her and it is really not good for their relationship. Kelly feels like she is being pushed in a corner and she doesn’t like it. Kim says it will be her and Matt’s home, not hers, and she just can’t let herself in.
Kelly says she has always been there for Matt and she is afraid of losing him. Kim tells her that it is not intention to take Matt away from her, but when she is spending time with him, she needs to stay away. Kim says the biggest thing they have in common is that they want Matt to be happy. Kelly says she will work on it. She admits that she always thought about Matt picking his future wife and she is happy, that he is happy with her. She likes what she sees, but it is hard to let him go. Kelly is happy that Kim spoke to her, she wants a strong woman for Matt. She commends Kim for speaking to her.
In Connecticut, Mike and Stephanie are home, Mike is doing a video for online content. Stephanie loves having Mike to herself, but she got a call for a job in LA. She tells him that it is a huge game changer for her career and asking her to the next step. She tells him that she feels stupid not to take this opportunity, and if he got this, he would do it. Mike understands, but his mother is at the forefront of his mind and he doesn’t want to leave her.
Mike tells her that he is worried about the close nit relationship that he has with his mom. She says that she really just wants to know if he is on board and they can make the decision together. He tells her that they are a team, and at some time, his mother needs to know that he can’t be there forever. He knows that his mom is not going to be happy, she is going to say that he is choosing Stephanie over her.
Shekeb and Emily are ready to Leila that they want to move in together. Leila is not happy that Emily is there. Emily is done waiting, she wants Shekab to tell his mother. Leila tells Emily to go, she doesn’t want to see her face. Emily says he is moving out with her, Laila says over her dead body. Emily explains this is the next step in their relationship. Shekab is hesitating, he doesn’t want to move out with all this stress; he just wants to give his mom time to digest. Emily can’t believe this, she tells Shekab that they are not compromising.
Emily is upset, she wants him to be a man and put his foot down. Leila tells her that she will not allow her son to not to live with her even for one day. Leila gets up and leaves, she asks Shekeb if he loves her, he says yes. He is upset, he feels like his mom disowned him. Emily is upset, she says this is exactly why their relationship is not going to work, he is never going to put his foor down.
At home, Kelly and Matt are enjoying a glass of wine together. Matt tells Kelly that he doesn’t want to wait for the engagement because Kim is disappointed to have to wait. Kelly asks him who she will have tea at night with. Kelly knows she has an inner struggle with letting him go. She asks him how he is going to propose to Kim. They decide to roleplay. Kelly pretends to be Kim. Matt is so happy, his mom helped him the words that he wanted to say. The producer asks Kelly expects to be a part of the proposal, she says yes.
Stephanie and Mike have invited Liz over to tell her about the move, they haven’t seen her in three months. Liz brings Mike an Easter present, nothing for Stephanie. They eat together and enjoy some wine. Stephanie tells Liz that they are going to move to LA, she has a job and it will be easy for Mike to get work. Liz starts crying and asks Mike how he can leave home without her. Liz doesn’t want him to go with her. She asks Stephanie if she really needs to take her son away from her. Liz says that Stephanie is not taking her son that many states away from him. Mike knows he has to stay strong and let his mom know that this is one thing that he is not willing to negotiate.
Matt surprises Kim, they have their weekend bags and the dog with them. Kim is so happy that his mother is not with them. She tells them they could just go to a Motel 6 and she would be happy. He takes her to a beautiful place that he rented, there is a pool surrounding the property. Mike feels that proposing to her without his mom there is the way it should be. When Matt practiced it with his mom he found the words, but now he can’t.
Liz is not happy, it is breaking her heart and Matt’s as well, seeing how she is reacting. He tells her that he was scared, he doesn’t want to leave her, but they have this opportunity and he is so solid with Stephanie and he needs to be there with her. Liz starts crying and telling her that he is her only one. He says he wants to go to LA. Liz says it is hard to hear, she thought that she was only coming over for lunch. He says this is his future wife, and he wants the two of them on the same page. Liz can see that he seems to love Stephanie, so she is going to give in. Liz tells Matt to have an extra room for her, Stephanie grabs her win and drinks up.
Emily tells Shekeb tht he is never going to tell his mom that he is moving out. He says he is in the middle of it. She takes her drink and throws it at him. He tells her that it is his culture, she says it has nothing to do with culture, it is his annoying personality. Emily says the relationship is over and she is not wasting anymore time. Emily is beyond upset, there is no future for them and he will never become a man.
Back to Matt and Kim, he pulls out the ring and gets down on one knee. Kim said yes and she is so excited, and she loves the Tiffany ring that he bought her. Kim says it was a perfect proposal, she is so happy that his mom was not there. Matt tells her that they need to tell his mom, they Facetime her. Kelly says that she wishes she was with them, she looks miserable. She asks them for their coordinates and tells them that she will be there within one hour. She says she is excited for them, but she wishes she was there.
