Laila plays games. She manipulated her son into abandoning his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day. Her son Shekeb was at dinner with his girlfriend Emily when his mother called him. Laila called to tell him that she was injured and that her leg was in a lot of pain. Laila knows how much Shekeb worries. He almost lost her once because of cancer and now Shekeb worries that something else can happen to her. He went rushing to her side tonight after he heard she was in pain. He wanted to check on her himself and so he ignored his own girlfriend. Emily told him that Laila wasn’t in real danger. She remembers how much Laila hates her and she figured that Laila had made up an injury to ruin their date. And she wasn’t wrong.
Laila went from having leg pain to the pain suddenly being in her knees. It was probably from the rock climbing or at least that’s what Shekeb thought had happened and so he partly blamed himself for his mother being injured. Shekeb offered to massage her knees. He massaged until his hands got tired and all the while he listened as his mother continued to manipulate him. The phantom pain wasn’t enough it seems. Laila wanted Shekeb to feel bad about how long it took him to come home from the restaurant and she did that because she wanted him to feel extra bad about not inviting her to dinner. Laila tried to invite herself along. Her son shut that down because he realized how inappropriate it was and so that’s why Laila is torturing him now.
Laila wants to be the number one in Shekeb’s life. She doesn’t want him dating Emily because she feels Emily takes his attention away from her and so she’s doing her best to sabotage the relationship. It’s why she pulled this trick on Valentine’s Day. Laila ruining Shekeb wasn’t even the worst thing a Mama’s boy could do. Mike’s mother had shut down any talk of engagement. Mike was seeing Stephanie and the two of them seem to be really happy. Stephanie also wanted the relationship to progress to the next step and so she talked Mike into going to a jewelry store. She thought it would be just the two of them, but nope. Mike’s mother Liz invited herself to the store and she ended all talks of engagement.
Liz also went to dinner with the couple. They went to a spot that Stephanie recommended and they all enjoyed themselves. Liz even said that Stephanie impressed her with her decision. This was huge for Liz and even Mike recognized it. He said it’s a lot for his mother to admit she’s impressed. He wasn’t really feeling the restaurant before then and he ended up changing his mind about it after he got approval from his mother. Both Liz and Mike thought Stephanie should be pleased at how well she impressed them. They completely forgot about the jewelry store and the only person who remembered was Stephanie. Stephanie was still ticked off. She said Liz needed to back off and stop sabotaging the relationship.
Mike was unaware that’s what his mom was doing. Sometimes the mama’s boys don’t realize that’s happening even when it happens right in front of them and then there are others like Shekeb. Shekeb realized his mother played him. He reached out to Emily and he apologized for his behavior. He told her how he wants to change the dynamic he has with his mom. He just doesn’t know how to go about it because his mother is important to him and so Emily said that she would try to repair her relationship with Laila. She agreed to Shekeb’s suggestion that she goes to Laila’s birthday party. She was going to go with a gift and she hoped that this gift would go a long way to repairing her relationship with Laila.
Jason was another mama’s boy. His mother Annette loved him to the exclusion of everyone else and that included her other child. Annette has been happy lately what with Jason moving back to the state because she misses when he lives away, but Jason has to move a lot because of his job and he knows that they’re going to relocate soon. He talked about his fiancé. She was dreading the move because she knew it would be hard for them to pick up and leave again. She also receives a lot of help with their young daughter from Annette. Annett was very much tied to their lives. Jason doesn’t even want to move because he knows his mother will take it badly and so he’s trying to get her used to the idea.
Jason was hoping that if he just told her the relocation is coming eventually that she will understand. Only Annette didn’t want to understand and so that played a part in her reaction. Annette basically said that she wasn’t going to let him move. Annette and Jason were getting a couple’s massage when Jason brought up his relocation and she shut it down. Annette said it was too hard on her thinking of them going away. She wishes that Jason would tell his work that he didn’t want to move and that way they could stay only his job doesn’t work like that. Annette also asked about Justina’s reaction. She became very upset when she heard how supportive Justina was being of the move and so she still doesn’t know that Justina doesn’t want to live near her in-laws forever.
Annette also tried to guilt-trip her son. She told him how she cries when he and his family drive home and they only live an hour away. Jason did feel bad about that. Just not bad enough to change his mind about relocation and so he had no clue what his mother was talking about when she said she would come up with a Plan B. Annette was set on finding a way for Jason to stay in the Chicago area. Her Plan B might also be him getting a new job and so he should be worried. He truly fears what his mother might have planned. Jason and Annette continued with their couple’s massage and the only ones who found it odd were the masseuses. They had never seen a mother and son come in together for a couple’s massage and they said they found it weird.
Also, Emily went to Laila’s birthday party. She thought Laila would finally be nice to her if she gave her a gift and, it turns out that nope, Laila was still as horrible as ever to Emily. Emily helped pick the cake and so Laila refused to eat it. She said Emily would probably poison her. Laila also refused to accept the gift because she claimed that it was trash and she refused to give Emily eye contact. She just wanted Emily to take back the gift and leave.
