Imani is tired of the façade. She’s tired of a husband that doesn’t want to spend time with her and she isn’t going to beg him to come back. Imani had wanted him to come back on his own, but he never did so and so now she’s mentioning divorce. Imani thought mentioning divorce to her husband would be like a kickstart for him. She never thought he would agree to a divorce so readily or that he was just as tired as she was. Imani learned real fast that her marriage is over. She told Britten about it and Britten wishes that Imani would have come to her sooner. Britten would have liked to have been there for Imani as Imani was going through all of this. And so she told Imani its okay to unburden herself.
Its what friendship is for. Imani was in no mood to go to a rodeo later on and so Britten made excuses for her. Britten still went. She went with her husband to a rodeo because it was for Shanique. It was Shanique’s birthday. Her husband and her best friend Jazmin planned the whole day. They knew Shanique loved horses. She loved riding them because it was something fun she could with her children. They, therefore, got the idea for a rodeo and there were was a buffet at the end of it. Shanique loved her birthday gift. She loved seeing the horses again and being able to witness the sunset while on top of a horse. She also loved the buffet. She loved what her friends said about her during their prayer/speech and so the only true upset was when Jazmin policed Kendra.
Kendra was on a diet. She had asked Jazmin to help her lose the baby weight and so Jazmin took her job quite seriously. She removed a piece of cornbread off of Kendra’s plate because Kendra couldn’t have it on the diet. The whole table saw this. Britten called her out on it and Jazmin said she was helping. Although, she did get offended when she noticed that Lia was laughing under her breath. Jazmin thought Lia was laughing at her and she told Lia off for laughing. Lia and Shanique had just gotten to this good place in their relationship with each other and Shanique tried to get the conversation moving because she didn’t want the drama. She simply wanted to return to the activities her husband had planned.
Like the line-dancing. They had line-dancing that was taught to them by an instructor and they ended it with the electric slide because the majority of them knew how to do it. The night meanwhile was ended with cake. There was a huge cake in Shanique’s honor and she loved it as well as the sparklers they put on it. Shanique loved her birthday. There was little to no drama at it and they wished the rest of their events could end like that. Britten had told the others that Imani was called in to check on a patient. The truth was Imani was upset about her divorce and the divorce wasn’t going to be easy. Her ex-husband thought she should box up his things for him. He wanted Imani to send his stuff to him and so she told him “hell, no”.
Imani told Phil to come to get his stuff himself. She also wanted Phil to be there when she broke the news to her son. Phil has been the only father her son has ever known and she didn’t want Idris to go through what she did. She wanted him to still have a father. She didn’t want her son to be abandoned like she was because that’s when she first began losing her hair and life was never the same afterward. Imani wanted to be very careful about her divorce. She wanted to go smoothly for her son and so she’s trying to find a way to work with Phil in spite of his stupid suggestions. Imani is trying to find the best forward through all of this. Her friends wish her the best and they were off living their own lives.
Britten dropped off her children at Shanique’s. She and her husband Mac were finally having a date night with just the two of them and they desperately needed it. They needed it because Britten has been sharing a bed with her kids. Her kids have cut in on the intimacy she has with her husband and so this date night was the first time in a long while that they got to be sexy with each other. They also weren’t the only couple on a date night. Kendra went on a date with her husband and she forgot all about her diet once the two of them got to talking. Kendra told her man that she wanted to go back to work full time. She found a place she likes. She even likes the staff and so Kendra wants to go back to work. And her husband thinks she should be happy with staying at home with the baby for a little while longer.
Kendra’s husband thinks they’re an inevitable position because they can afford for Kendra to stay with kids. He doesn’t understand how Kendra wants more and she does. She wants to be useful. She doesn’t think she can feel that way by being a stay-at-home mom and that’s her prerogative. Kendra should do what’s best for her. Her husband just needs to listen to her and hear what she wants. Kendra was so upset with him that she forgot all about her diet. She ignored it on a date night and she ignored it again when she went over to Imani’s. Imani invited everyone around to help her choose the photo for her book. She had wanted to keep fun and light. She hadn’t wanted to tell them about her pending divorce.
Imani is a very private person. She likes to keep things close to her chest and so her confessional to her friends tonight had come as a surprise for everyone. Imani told them she was separated.
